Vaughn Epic 8600 Catcher

I saw a pic of the vaughn epic 8600 catcher on the GH website and i thought that it was a pro glove it just looked really good for the price.............so my question is.....does it feel like a pro glove or does it kind of feel cheap?

I wouldn't say it feels like a pro glove, but I will say it certainly feels like it should be more $$$ than it is.

I too am a little uncertain of what Vaughn is doing. I am looking for a new glove and it is very obvious that the Velocity has a china made cousin in the 7400, so is that what the Epic 8600 is? A china made knock-off of the 8800? You can pick up the glove and blocker for under $300 combined, so it is probably hard to go wrong (until you break your hand I guess).

If anyone can provide some insite into the difference between the Epic 8800 and the Epic 8600 that would be very helpful. Anyone have the 8600?

I just picked up a set of the 8600 pads and I think they are amazing for approx$400.00. I'm comig form Itech 7.8's an the 8600 appears to be a much nicer pad IMO.

With that said, I saw the Epic 8600 catcher in my local shop the other day and was not impressed, the palm is very thin. I think it would make a decent roller hockey glove, but I'm not sold on it for Ice.

I think you have to compare the 8600 to gloves in the same category and price. this is one of the top couple in this price range. if you're not playing a high level this isn't bad. if you take a hard shot flat in the palm, its probably going to sting, but thats not meant for someone playing a higher level facing more of those types of shots.

is the 8600 a cheaper version of the 5500? or a different feel altogether?
