Much debate is over this question because technically Cheevers mask was not considered by many as a "painted" mask. He took a black marker and made it look like stitches were on it.
I'll take Cheevers as a good guess but two other goalies remain out there that are apart of this great trivia debate.
Who were the other two goalies and what made their masks so unique to be considered by many as one of the first painted masks in the NHL?
