Corey Schwab
Did anyone hear Harry Neal mention that Corey Schwab won't get his name on the Stanely Cup because he didn't play 25 games? Did I hear that right? If I did, that's brutal!

i think the team gets to choose whose names go on the trophy. thats how it was with dallas i know. they get a certain amount of people that can go on. thats why brent severn got on the cup. he didnt play the amount of games but they chose him to be on it anyway. corey schawb should be able to get on the cup, have you ever heard of a team not putting a back up goalie on the cup because he didnt play 25 games?? i doubt it.

I'm pretty sure he gets his name on there....but the team does vote if there is any concern.
Example: 2001-02 Superbowl Champion Patriots
Terry Glenn was technically on the team, he got NO ring.
1) cause he only played a couple of games that year
2) he's a whine bag sorry sack of useless molecules, which Greenbay found out.
Team didn't even get a chance to say "no ring for terry"
his agent called the team and said "Terry doesn't want a ring"
to which they replied "oh, ok....he wasn't getting one"
so yes, in most sports, it goes to Vote who gets what from the championship.

Yeah, I heard him say that too. If it's true, that's bull because a backup goalie's role to the team is more important than coming in when the #1 is tired or injured.

I think Harry was referring to this year's Jennings Trophy, which is given the the goalie(s) who have played a minimum of 25 games for the team who has allowed the fewest goals against. Schwab didn't, and won't get his name on the trophy.

Pretty sure you have to make an apperance in the playoffs, and/or play 25 regular season games. And he did play a few minutes in the playoffs so I think he gets on the cup

Sorry...
I might have been a little vague. Schwab will definetly have his name on the Stanley Cup, but because he didn't play enough regular season games, won't have his name on the Jennings.

I don't know the specifics of making it onto the Cup but was thinking about the role of the backup on a team like the '03 Champion Devils.
How do you really think Schwab feels??
Sure, he's on a Cup winner, but is he a contributor?. I know the practice element is important.
Did he really support the guys? Marty? Did he and Marty trade notes??
I'm not bashing anyone, but as a competitor do you think he feels like a part of the team? Or more like a lucky spectator? Could they have won it with him alone?
The whole mental notion of being the back up is on my mind, your thoughts please.
BTW Schwab's Stats W 5 L3 T 1
GAA 1.47
S% .933
1 Shut out
11 games played in

If I ask nicely, maybe they'll put my name on the cup.

Since he played in the finals, he gets his name on the cup. You only need 1 shift in the finals and you're on.
I'm sure Schwabby feels like a lucky spectator, but as an old man I can tell you that in his later years he will tell everyone that they couldn't have done it without him.

If nine members of the Ilitch family can get their names on the Cup, a goalie who saw ice time in the finals definitely will.
