My Brain Tumor
Yesterday afternoon I received the worst news of my life and right now I am having a difficult time dealing with it.
About 4 weeks ago I was run over in my crease and the back of my head hit the post. I suffered a pretty good concussion but did not think anything of it. After 2 weeks of headaches, I decided to go to my family doctor to get it checked out. A week later (Thursday) I was under the CAT scan getting it checked out even further. My doctor called me and my wife into his office yesterday afternoon as he said he had some news for us...I have a brain tumor. It is roughly 4cm x 2cm (roughly 2.5" x 1"). He said it was either one of 2 types, both not being too good (as if a brain tumor has a good kind).
I have yet to see either a neuro surgeon or oncologist and right now am very scared of what may happen. I have tried to maintain a positive outlook as I am a true believer of mind over matter, but it is very hard right now. I have a wife and 4 year old daughter and it hurts quite a bit knowing what may come. If you know me, you would know I am a fighter and this thing is in for the fight of its life...I am going to battle it every day and kick the living crap out of it.
Right now, I need some help. I really do need some positive vibes here. Anything anyone can offer, any insight, any dealings with such a thing, any experience or words of encouragement would be VERY helpful right now as I am at one of the lowest points of my life. I am taking the outlook that for every bad thought, I need 2 good ones to cancel that bad one out and because it is early, there are several bad ones racing through my head.
I appreciate anything anyone can offer.
Thank you.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and keep up the most positive attiutude you can. Also check out Dr. Craig Nichols who is Lance Armstrong's doctor. He has worked wonders for many many people.
Getting run and having those tests may prove to be a very positive thing. Again best of luck and we will be praying for you and your family.

I will pray to Jesus for you, by name, as well.
BTW, many types of brain tumors can be sucessfully managed or treated so wait till the docs do thier tests and give you options. DO NOT act on anything you've heard up to this point as that would be premature. Your wife and child need you as do the rest of us.

Hey Da Wall, hope you fight through this. Although a brain tumor is always serious, I hope that this is a benign tumor (which of course is very different than a malignant tumor ie. cancer) and you can get through this without much of a hitch.
We are all pulling for you.

I'm glad you shared this with us. I know a lot of people think "it's only the internet" but, in many ways, this place is very real. Stay as positive as you can, try to avoid spinning out scenarios in your imagination. Keep us posted about how things are going. We'll keep you in our prayers.
Best of luck to you.

Jim:
I'll keep you in my thoughts as well.
Gather as much information as you can about how you can beat this. The more evidence you have to back up your positive thinking, the more it will fuel that thinking.
