Exclamation Cleaning the Stove

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know we had some action on the board that caused a number of you to send me a PM concerning the state of affairs in the HS forum.

Outside of the straw that broke the back so to speak, the general sentiment was that good threads are being ruined by off topic posting (neffing) on a regular basis.

As a result, I've instructed the moderators to be more aggressive in policing this behaviour in the hopes of reducing the 2-1 ratio of garbage to honest contributions.

If you see such action occuring, simply report the thread using the 'report a thread' feature or send your favorite moderator a PM.

So... even though your post doesn't break a house rule, if it’s off topic, don't be surprised to see it removed. Also, If repeat offenders are becoming a nuisance, the mods and I will consider handing out brief to permanent vacations on a case by case basis.

You can however make use of the official neffing threads if you care to.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Sean

What the moderators that join in on the neffing and all that BS.

How can they be more aggresive when they are the ones producing the garbage? Well some at least

While this is a step in the right direction, my original request still stands.

Thanks.

What was the original request?

I've lurked a lot, come and gone, and I always "go" because of the neffing and the poor taste. I don't understand how some unPC behavior or language can be considered acceptable, and other times it's out of the question.

Should be interesting to see how the new policy holds up

A big part of the problem is that lots of us complain that we want the neffing and garbage cleaned up, but when we mods do we get crucified as "notzee power tripping gestapo modz".

The more "free" the BB is, the more full of garbage and junk it gets - which angers people.

The more moderated the BB is, the cleaner it is, but people get mad at the "nohtsee-ism".

A middle ground is the best, I'd say. Right now the pendulum has swung too far in favor of the "free garbage" and now needs to swing back a bit to get us more centered.

By the way, reporting posts is a 99.9% guarantee of getting something done.

My original request was to remove my username and every post I've made.

I too think it is a step in the right direction, but my original request still stands...split the hot stove into hockey related topics and a separate area for politics, religion, current events, and general goofiness.
I think we would find the "neffing" was then mostly contained to the latter area, and this might make it easier to police, as well as making the bb easier to navigate for those of us who are primarily here to talk goaltending and hockey.

you should attach a breathalizer to each members computer...they can only post on certain threads if they register over 2.0, and are locked out of certain threads if it's over .08...

Just get rid of the usual noObs who do it. This place would be better without them in so many ways.
