Under Canadian law what Roy did definately constitutes an assault and Roy should be charged as well as suspended.
There was no consent from the victim in that assault and the refs did a piss poor job of controlling that (Roy) situation.

So the other goalie could have fought and not been kicked out?
Interesting. Down here, you are gone for fighting, and the tourney I was in kicked you out of the whole tourney, not just the next game.
FWIW, when I turtled, I did get my revenge. I went up to the guy after the game, in front of his wife and team, and offered to pay for a referee at a boxing gym so we could go 3 rounds as adults, legally, with no threat of being disqualified from playing or legal action by the other person. I said he could choose between 12 or 16 oz gloves, and regular boxing or kickboxing, but headgear was not optional.
I'm guessing that it was tougher for him to have to be a wuss in front of his wife and decline my invitation (although it would have been even better if he had taken me up on it) than it was for me to take a few punches on the way to holding the trophy for our team picture.

That's the "Q". It's known for fighting and fighing is allowed. It's not like a house league or tournament where you're going to get thrown out for fighting. I also don't get why the kid didn't even try to tie up Roy after he was getting killed. He wouldn't have had to fight, but it could have at least stopped him from getting pummeled.

LOL, what a joke, lil Roy acted like a idiot for sure, totally gutless, ya the other dude should have done something, but after making it obvious he wasnt gonna throw, Roy should have gone and found another partner. Roy skates like Hammerhan. lol

What a gutless jacknob!
Nadeau pretected himself a bit. But it would have been easier had he been a bit more ready... even ready to turtle properly, if he wasn't going to throw. How many connected? Did he finish the game?
meh... just makes Roy look more like his Pappy.... and that ain't necessarily a good thing!

Well who here plays junior hockey? I play Jr,B hockey in Ontario and at least where im from and ive noticed it from other tryouts If your coach tells you to fight.... you fight theres nothing really more to it and when your in a fight and your feeding your opponent and he drops you usually give and shot or two to keep him down but thats it. Roy was not in wrong he just may have gone a punch or two overboard but hey this is hockey not figure skating.

What a spineless thing to do. Should the guy have done something back, probably but its still spineless to go after someone and continually hammer them when its plainly clear they have no wish to fight, then walk away like "yeah, I won." But, he's a Roy, wouldn't expect much else...

The "Q" was known for fighting way back when. Sorry but all the tough guys in the CHL are further west.
Nadeau obviously wanted to stay in the game and or his coach asked him not to get involved. A goalie does recieve a game misconduct for leaving his crease to get into an altercation. I don't know why Nadeau didn't finish the game though.
Turtling was obviously the best way to defend himself, isn't that the reason someone would turtle. I mean this isn't a case like the Salo-Cloutier one where Salo went third man in. That was a pretty gutless thing for Patrick to send his son after a guy who was 300ft down the ice.

That wasn't a fight, it was an assault. Not sure what Nadeau was thinking just standing there, but regardless, it was an attack.
And the Rioux kid REALLY IS Dre's cousin.

I just think it's a pussah thing to do when the other guy clearly doesn't want any, nor was asking for any. Maybe he was smart mouthing Roy and giving him some lip, that I could see. But other than that, Roy's a pussah, just like his old man.
Goes all the way down to the other goal. If the other guy wanted to fight he'd have come out.
Hits the other guy repeatedly, even though the other guy has no intention of fighting.
Hits the other guy when he's already down on the ice. How cool.
Oh yeah... Jonathon...

I played against him a good five years back in a tourny and he was pretty much awful as a tender.

I dread topics like this b/c when I read the responses I pretty much expect there to be the huge moral uprising and overreaction to just about anything that has taken place...this is what's wrong with the game today, they're putting up nets to protect the fans, they want mandatory visors to protect the players, they want to stop hits to the head but not other places, they want to enforce penalties no matter what time of game and call a tight match, THIS IS HOCKEY folks, just a reminder.
