When I used to play and there was a bench clearing brawl or major altercation I'd skate to the red line where the other goalie would meet me and we'd talk about the gear we were using. Or when there was a hot head goalie that I'd have to pull out of the pile I'd yell at him " I don't want to fight, but I have to pull you out!" I was always stronger than the other goalies so after I pulled them out they didn't want to fight me. Which was good cause I didn't want to fight either. I've never fought on the ice and I teach my students not to get involved with it. It has nothing to do with us goalies. That "unwritten rule" is total Bullsh%t as previously posted. Fighting is part of the game and always should be. But goalies should have nothing to do with it.
