It can be clearly argued that the Holmstrom goal should have been disallowed. However, game still would have finished the same way.
If it was a deciding goal, or even a closer goal, I would be a little more concerned, regardless of the team.
It is true though that Turco appeared to make no effort to fight the screen in that particular moment in time. Would he been able to stop a tip like that? Maybe, maybe not.

That's the thing is they showed up for the game. In as much as these guys will turn around after a quadruple overtime win, a win that capped off two series of extremely physical play, it was obvious they were playing like they had concrete in the skates. I don't think this game was indicative of the Stars play for the rest of the series, just the game after one of the longest games they've played. I understand these guys are professionals, and with the playoffs comes that chance of long games, but you can only train so much. Little prep time after trying to recuperate, it was the Red Wings game to lose. What would have been really sad was for Red Wings to have lost, not so much that the Stars did. I think they'll get their legs under them again, they know the pace the Red Wings are going to set, and they know that if they get close enough to Osgood they can beat him, they just have to make sure they don't beat themselves first. I still think it's going to be a good series, and as a Stars fan, they deserve to still be believed in.

I honestly dont think Ive ever watched a more uneventful and boring hockey game in my whole life. What a waste of time. Change the channel and wait to see who wins the Pens / Flyers series and gets to play the Wings.

Spoken like a true homer. Saturday's game should be a barn burner.

Quart of Beer,
While I respect your decision to disagree, name calling doesn't bode well for your argument. I can see the potential in both teams winning at this point, but until the series is over, everything else is speculation and hearsay. I guess in the end we'll see.

That's crap, and that's coming from a Stars fan. The Red Wings just out played them the first two periods. If it was such a fatigue issue, then what is the reason they played so much better in the third than the did the first two periods. The thirs period is what gives me hope it's not a 4-and-out, which is what the result will be if they played like the start of the game. Detroit came out hard like SJ did in Game 4 (or was it 5) and Dallas was caught flat footed. That Bantam age blind passing didn't help their cause either.

With all respect, there is no name calling going on. I'm a homer for my team, the Wings, as well and proud of it. In a previous post I mentioned that the Wings will expect to see the real Stars team show up on Saturday. That's why I said it's going to be a barn burner. I believe in the ol' hockey saying..."One game doth not a series make". And as a life long Wings fan, I've been through my fair share of pain. Peace...
