He's a great coach and a stand up guy. It's too bad that he didnt have his regulars vs the Wings.

The playoff exit in the 2nd round was mainly due to too many guys being injured.

If we (Leafs) had a GM right now, he might have been a Leaf again.

I think Joel could do a great job in TO given the right people around him.

All I could think watching the Avs get bounced by Detroit was "man, this sure looks like my Blues about 10 years ago".

Looks like its the same end result too.

Good coach, just can't seem to get it done in the playoffs.

The injuries certainly didn't help, either.

For the win!

Coach Q is a stand-up guy and he did good things for My Beloved Blue Note but unfortunately his plodding, defensive brand of hockey just won't get it done in the "new" NHL.

I'm pretty sure the "plodding, defensive brand of hockey" is a direct result of having to coach plodding, offensively challenged players, something St. Louis had no shortage of at the time.

Theodore looked unbeatable in round one, then looked like me in round two - not going to work against Detroit.

Thanks for three years of mediocre, Q. I wish I could say you exceeded expectations, but not really.

His legacy: 2 second round sweeps, 2+ years of goalie-go-round, thinking Wyatt Smith > Ben Guite/Brad Richardson/etc., worst PP in the league, multiple bench minor penalties for arguing with refs, forcing Ryan Smyth to run the offense from behind the net, playing a goalie with the flu in the playoffs, choking the offensive life out of a gifted team, some of the worst ties in the history of the franchise, the belief that Karlis Skrastins is a top pair d-man, and the delusion that Tyler Arnason can do no wrong.

Other than the ties, a lot of that is actually the GM's legacy.

True to a point, he had to deal with some baggage from Lacroix's reign, but the PP being horrible and his misuse of current players had nothing to do with Pierre. Ryan Smyth was signed last summer. Why take a guy who has played a certain way his entire career and try to change it? Why force skilled guys like Sakic/Hejduk/Wolski to play defense first and not an uptempo game like the Avs have played for years? The goaltending was something he was stuck with, but I still don't think he handled that with anything resembling common sense or foresight.
