Dallas Drake!

As much as I hated seeing him do it in that damned winged-wheel sweater, it sure was nice to see the former Blues captain and all-around good guy Dallas Drake finally hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup! Classy move for Lidstrom to hand it off to him first.

There are these guys on every team. Every year I watch the finals and even though I might not like the team as a whole there is one sub story or player that I can latch onto and relish the moment of. Drake was the guy this year.

Just love when those "for the team" guys who give everything for the team finally get theirs.

Congrats to Dallas. Like you said STL, I was dissapointed that he won it with the wings. I would have much rather seen him win it with the Blues. He is one of the few players on the wings I like.

Agreed. Drake is a classy guy and everyone was happy for him. He also has the greatest hockey name since Zarley Zalapski was in the league.....

VERY classy move by Lidstrom. I couldn't help but be happy for the guy, just seeing the big grin on his face being caught up in the moment.

There was someone else that I saw too, who appeared to be bawling while hoisting the cup, younger guy, dark hair... sorta wasn't paying much attention during the latter part of the celebration so I didn't get to see the name, might have been Lilja, Fillipula? Either way no matter who it was, it's amazing to see such emotion from grown men, makes this game worth playing no matter who you are and where you come from. It's the greatest game on the planet, hands down.

Zarley's got a name with a lot of character in it, too bad the person inside the name is a dead fish. Nice enough guy and all, but just anti-social. And a HORRIBLE dresser, those "what not to wear" tv shows would've had a stroke if they were given ZZ to makeover!!!! Remember some of those slacks that Herb Brooks is wearing in Miracle? Those look fashionable compared to how Zarley dresses!

Sorry, a plaid/checked polyester leisure suit just does NOT cut it in the new millenium!

Great name, though -- sounds like something straight out of SlapShot! -- but the guy is just a cold fish in person. Even his own teammates wouldn't hang out with him... and he's not even a goalie!!!

Drake brought that extra grit they needed. He's a Michigan boy and played his heart out. Great stuff all around.

I'm kind of curious what the love affair is about with this guy? Only thing i ever seem to recall about him is, is his notorious head shots. The fact that he almost ended boyd deverauxs career by leaving his feet and almost taking his head off.

And wasnt the rule about leaving your feet for a hit made because of his head hunting tatics?

Yea, ditto. My favorites were Dave Andreychuk(sp?) and Ray Borque; it was nice to see them win it a few years back.

It was awesome to see Dallas and some of the young guys get the cup. McCarty was pretty awesome as well.
