HNIN Canada theme song dead...

TorontoSun.com - Toronto And GTA- Swan song for Hockey Night in Canada theme

There's no emoticon to represent my anger! This song really is "Canada's second national anthem". I think we all somewhat grew up on this hearing it every Saturday night (evne those in the States). Man I can't even articulate my anger, gahh!

A more in-depth article:
Canada’s ‘second national anthem’ silenced

So that the CBC can save $500 a week? Jeez. Give me a break, they probably spend more on lattes.

Write the CBC and express your anger!!

sometimes things need to change.. doesn't mean we're not going to ever hear it again, and it's not like we won't think of it in our life time. things need to change, and it only adds to the nostalgia.

Ridiculous.

An no, things don't "need to change". Why is that, exactly? So we can listen to Nickelback or whatever other Can-con artist du jour the CBC decides is cool at the time? Give me a break. The HNIC theme is a tradition, connecting old and young hockey fans and giving a great sense of history and timelessness to the program.

Bunch of cheap, pencil pushing bean counters. Kiss my ass.

It'll last one week and then the outrage will be so overwhelming that they'll give the guy 10,000 g's a week just to play it.

Agreed (although it's a woman who wrote it).

It'll be just like when they weren't going to bring back Ron McClean (sp?)......public screamed for blood and they made it right. You gottta wonder about the people running the CBC who make these types of calls.

And how they let Chris Cuthbert go. One of the best play by play guys in all of televised sports.

I do have to wonder if it is a publicity stunt, but none the less I hope there is a big public stink about this over the summer!

I'd have to agree with you Spider, hockey is over for the season, CBC's biggest rating draw has closed up shop and moved on... how will they make sure they stay in the public eye? Publicity stunt written all over it. Look at how worked up some people already are.

There is no reason they need to change or "move in a different direction". There is no plausable ****ing idea why this needs to happen.
