Way too easy to score that way.
Raycroft hit the ice!!!

Be a pro sounds really fun, except for being a goalie or a 4th liner. I hate playing goal in 08 it takes so long and there are periods of time doing nothing. And if you have to sit bench until your line goes out it can get boring too.

Im excited for this though, not selling my 360 anymore!

I also think they should actually put some effort into putting the right colors on pads. all p2 goalies have 2 color schemes i.e. khabbi

If they had 2K's goalies and player editor, I'd be in heaven.

It saddens me to see the goalies look the same, and the hits are still insanely huge.

I disagree, i enjoy making it a realistic experience. I never stack my teams or anything like that - I always try and make it realistic and this is a very good way to increase the realism it reminds me of the old MLB "The Show" game - tons of fun.

Gah right now I really hate my old Xbox. All the good games are coming out now, and I don't have the cash for a 360 I hate how they do that to make you buy the new everything.

The one big thing i would change about the goalies is having at least the elite goalies look more like there real life counterparts, especially in goalie mode. Kari lehtonens stance should be excessively wide, ryan miller should start in a really high stance and work down and brodeur should look like brodeur with the paddle down and pokechecks and whatever. Also, in goalie mode there really should be a paddle down button, thats not that complicated. I guess a full goalie skating engine would take a video game of its own but a butterfly slide instead of dropping then pushing should be doable, and I think a lot would be added to goalie mode by having one of the joysticks do movement and one do body rotation instead of having the game just keep your shoulders facing.

Also fix the cheating AI in all-star mode. They poke check the puck away from you just by skating near you and their D skates faster than you so you can never get a clean breakaway no matter how much of a head start you get.

Be a Pro sounds great, but the goalie controls from last year weren't good enough for you to advance very far in that mode if it's the same. Half the time I played as goalie, the player was too fast for me to react with the appropriate save.

Another big feature in last year's game was the three-on-three online play. In NHL 09, that's been moved up to full six-on-six play online. It certainly sounds like a hockey fan's online dream come true, though we suspect it's going to take a certain type of person who wants to sit in net for an entire game. Then again, goalies are a different breed in real life, too...
Hehehe

Flames' Phaneuf to grace the cover of 'NHL 09'

Dion Phaneuf will in fact be on the cover. Sources close to Phaneuf, much closer than they'd like, claim that he nearly smiled upon hearing of the news.

This one just bugs the ever living snot out of me. Really, it's not so much the post thing - it's the flying out of the arena thing. A weak backhander from 3 feet out will rise instantly, hit the crossbar, increase its speed 500%, and end up out of the damn arena.

GRRRRR!

That explains the games new motto: Embrace the inner douche, NHL 09.

I wonder if there will be a way in the game to steal his SUV while he's in getting donuts?

BTW the website is already up:
EA SPORTS : NHL 09 : Home

Theres a cool behind the scenes video which talks about how EA had game enthusiasts who run NHL sites come in and offer suggestions on the game already. Plus there's a bunch of screen shots.

Game hits Sept. 9th

NHL 08 was def. the best hockey game ever made. I'm sure 09 will be slightly better but I def. can't wait for it to come out. I just hope they fix the online play.
