playing 14 years. Finally got a shutout.

I've been playing ice for nearly 14 years. Beer leagues, travel tournaments, whatnot, and have been as close as 30 seconds away from a shut out, but never got one.

I'm in a tournament this weekend, and just got home from game 1. A 7-0 win, and my first shutout ever.

For an old guy like me who didn't even start skating until I was 21, I can't tell you what a thrill it was. My team played incredible in front of me, and I only had 10 saves, but my half of the scoreboard said "0" when the final horn sounded for the first time in my hockey career. And you darn well better believe I got the game puck!!!!!!

well, first of all, congrats on your first shutout, i have been playing goal for a year now, and i have never gotten a shutout..closest been was 1 goal..we lost that game though, in OT..

Way to go brother! It took me about 8 years in roller hockey to finally get one.

I've gotten several more since and I now play ice as well. I always keep the puck.

Lol, after all the teams I've played for over the years, they didn't even know to give me the puck after a shutout! I might have to remind them on the beginning of the season.
