I got asked to play in a charity game today...

anybody else here ever done this? A buddy of mine sent me an email asking that I play at the end of this month earlier today and its for a friend of his recently diagnosed with cancer. I'm just kind of curious what to expect, this should be some very high level hockey and because of what little I know of it I was hoping to hear some thoughts.

I play on the fire department team for the city I work in, and we do charity games against the police, "Guns and Hoses" several times a year. Just go out have fun and put on a little show. And remember it is for charity and enjoy!

My favorite reason to play. Really, everyone is just in a good mood.

Hope for the best for your friend with cancer. In our thoughts & prayers, not just for him but for his family & friends.

I wish more of this stuff happened [the charity thing, not the cancer] with hockey. Sports is such a great way to connect people to do good things.

Have a blast.

Usually a light-hearted, entirely offensive (goal scoring, not ... oh, nevermind) shindig. Depends on who's running it and the crowd, but sometimes a few shenanigans for the crowd.
Mostly... just try to make some flashy saves and get to know your d-men in the room.... after the game, because you won't see them during

I played in a charity sled hockey game last year, it was a lot of fun. Made some good saves despite being strapped into what could only be described as and anchor of death. Not the same thing, but worthwhile nonetheless.

Yup, played in one a couple of years ago. It was a really great time, the game was competitive - I'd played previously with everyone before, but it seems like they all raised their battle level for the charity game, and it was really fun to do the same.
