Fellow Hawks fans we just picked up Huet!

Wow I was a fan of his and now even more. The Hawks also got Brian Campell for 8 years. This is great. I liked Habby as a goalie just not in Chicago. I hope they keep Patrick Lalime around as the back up.

Huet could mean playoffs. He does not slump as bad as Khabibulin plus we barely missed out last year anyway. Dale Talon have any money left now? edited-

I guess we got Pat Foley back in the tv booth which I also like.

Why would they get him? Tallon is very happy with the goalie tandem. And with Corey Crawford and Antti Niemi in the system, the last thing I would expect is another goalie move.

I feel bad for patty. Last game of the season I got to go into the locker room and get autographs and what not. I spent about 15 mins talking to him about the goaltending situation. I told him "it's all you next year" and he said "yea. I sure hope so". Great guy and a great goalie, I hope he finds a good place to play.

Because Khabi's paycheck is the size of Cloutier's 5 hole

Appearantly I am a Wings fan, but Huet is a huge pickup for the Hawks.
Khabbi may have done "Great" with the Lightning, and may do well somewhere else, but does not fit with CHI-Town.

Yesterday it was on the table - Khabibulin and a 2009 1st rounder for LaBarbera, Laurie Tukonen and a 2009 3rd rounder. Didn't happen and it's presumed to be unlikely at this point.

It makes sense because the Hawks need to dump salary, and the Kings can take on that salary for the one year Khabibulin has remaining on his contract, it won't effect them locking up guys like Kopitar, Johnson and O'Sullivan for the long term.

It would also end management's suicidal love affair for LaBarbera, who is a career minor leaguer/backup at best.

I'm all for this trade but it doesn't look likely at this point.

Theyre over the cap and Khabibulin is their only real expendable asset. But with his salary itll be hard to move him. I see him hitting waivers / getting bought out and getting picked up by either Tampa or LA in a heartbeat.

Tallon wont move any young players so the only person to go is Khabibulin and then theyll be under the cap.
