Ray Emery on OTR
Thoughts?
I dont know, he really screwed up his career and he just seems a bit too ****y, however, he did show some class and I give him credit for it. Hopefully he gets himself together in Russia.

I'm not a Ray Emery fan, quite well know, BUT I will give him some respect on Off The Record. He did not bash his team mates or the organization and took responsibility for his actions in the previous year. I'm well aware his PR department was telling him to just take the fall and be the "bigger man" but for him its still a big step. Good luck in Russia Ray.

I was surprised by his comments, but pleasantly so. I thought it showed class. I'm no fan either but at least he is going away with SOME shred of dignity now.

Maybe the fact that no one picked him up while he was on waivers was the equivilant of a swift kick in the **s for him, after all he only signed for one year in Russia so maybe he is hoping it can make him a good impression so he can come back.

I really was somewhat impressed. He had a very different character about him than I've seen during the past couple seasons, and it seems like he might be getting his head back on straight after all.
Hope he gets back into form in Russia, having more guys with personality (albeit not locker-room-cancerous personality) is good for the game.

I really liked that whole thing. It was very tasteful. I hope Emery has a great year in Russia and comes back to play in the NHL next season. I know there's going to be at least a couple teams wishing they had taken him for this year.
I am glad he did OTR and set things straight, no BS, no sugar coating and no crap. I am sure he feels much better leaving the NHL and North America on better terms and knowing that there's probably 4-5 teams wishing they'd inked him for what would have been pretty low dollars.
I have been hearing rumours of satellite providers trying to work out a deal with the KHL to have a channel or pay per view deal for games. I would watch em.

Sorry, but I gotta say that interview sounded more like a 5 year old saying "I'm sorry, I'll never do that again and I learned my lesson" type mentality. When you look at guys like Raycroft and Auld finding new teams before Emery, that is a little wake up call. Alot has to do with his agent J.P. Barry as well, telling the media that Emery has some thinking to do and reflect on himself and change a few things...etc.
I'm not saying that Emery wasn't a little remorseful on OTR, but to me he sounded like he was trying a little too hard to reconize the error of his ways, and of course he is not going to say anything about his previous teammates. That would be suicide if he wanted to get back into the NHL later on down the road.
