Football question
So, I am heading into fantasy playoffs, and I have one of the two most powerful teams in the league, but am seeded right now at 4th. 8 teams makes the three week playoff. In total there are 5 weeks left of playing time.
My Team:
QB: Warner - bench - Garcia, Cutler
RB: Addai, Taylor - bench - A. Peterson, K. Keith
WR: TO, Fitzgerald, Galloway - bench - Driver,R. Williams
TE: Dallas Clark - bench - LJ Smith
Def: Giants
So we start - 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Def.
I have been offered
1) Andre Johnson for Peterson
2) D. Anderson and B. Stokley for Driver and Galloway
If accepted, I would upgrade WR with Johnson over Galloway and QB with Anderson over Warner.
Do you pull the trigger on these trades, and risk Peterson coming back and taking carries away from C. Taylor? Is that likely to happen?
So the REAL question is - is Peterson coming back in the next 5 games? If so, how many carries is he likely to get, Taylor can still put up decent points with Peterson seeing time?
big gamble?
thoughts please..I need help
keeping in mind this is a money league, and I want the money.

On Peterson:
Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed Monday that Adrian Peterson (torn LCL) is a "long shot" to play in Week 12.
The Vikings have been targeting Week 13 against Detroit as the return date for Peterson all along, so this is not a surprise. Peterson did begin running in a pool on Monday and could do some dry-land work this week. Chester Taylor is likely to get another start against the Giants on Sunday.

I'm not sure what that means, other than there's no telling when he'll be back. It does sound like they're planning on bringing him back sometime this year. What are you going to do at RB2 if he is back and you make the trade? If you could possibly include Taylor in the deal and get his RB2 (assuming it's someone decent), I'd probably consider that trade a little more. As it is, I'd probably pass.
Trade #2 seems pretty good. If I remember correctly, the Browns have a pretty easy pass schedule for the FF playoffs, so Anderson should produce pretty well. Is R. Williams ROY WILLIAMS? If so, pull the trigger on that one. I'd drop one of your extra QBs and try to get someone like DJ Hackett off waivers if you can - he's surprisingly available in a lot of leagues. If it's not ROY, I'd see what your other options are for WR3 before going through on that one...
Not sure if that helps at all...good luck.
Cheers.

It really depends on what your scoring is in your league but in most leagues the running back is by far the most important position.
The big knock on Peterson is that he is fragile. He could come back and light it up for two games and then be out again. Its a high risk high reward gamble.
Anderson is an interesting player. He is playing on a team with a fantastic set of receivers that are, without question, making him look great even when he makes bad plays. That isn't to say he is a bad QB but he is unproven and has been pulled out of the fire more than a few times by his good offensive playmakers. What is interesting here is that he could come back down to earth and play like the guy that was back up to start the season and expected to lose his job to Quin before it is all said and done or he could keep on rolling. To make it more complicated, the Browns have a relatively tame schedule to end the season which could mean some big first halfs and lots of running in the secon half. Who knows, another big risk.
The rest of the players in question are pretty straight forward in my opinion, but those two give you something to think on because of their risk/reward level.
So no real answer for you, just more food for thought.

Well, my thinking on Taylor is that even if Peterson comes back he has potential to put up numbers. In the record setting game Peterson - 296 yards, 3TD - Taylor got 80 yards and a touchdown. I can live with a those stats even as a RB2. I also think that even if Peterson comes back, his touches will be limited,, which gives Taylor more touches...
R. Williams is reggie williams, a waiver wire bum at best.
our scoring is pretty much straighforward. 1pt for 10 yards rushing or receiving, 6 points for TD, and a bonus 5 points for every 100 yards, rushing or receiving, gained.
so a receiver who gets 100+ and a TD is very valuable.

Stay pat, you have a deep team, especially at WR. Trade Cutler now since he is coming off his final good game of the season for Ernest Graham for a extra backup at RB for when ADP comes back.

Peterson's backup is doing well.... he won't be back until absolutely needed, and only if he's able. I wouldn't want him. In my league, the playoffs start at Week 14. Only the top two in the two divisions we made go to the playoffs. So at the end of week 13, it's go time.
FYI my team... 10-1 in a 10 man league: 1st place baby!
QB - Tom Brady, (Carson Palmer )
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew, Willie Parker ( Lendale White )
WR - T.O., Santonio Holmes, Chris Henry ( Dwayne Bowe )
TE - Dallas Clark, ( Desmond Clark ) funny having almost the same name!
DEF/ST - Pittsburgh ( Detroit )
K - Jeff Reed ( Jay Feely )

I would do the trades. Both of them. Childress will be raked over the coals if Peterson comes back in and he allows him to play very much and injures him more. He will most likely take the smart road and ride Chester Taylor the rest of the season. If nothing else it improves Chester's stock for trade value in the off season. The Viks have no playoff potential so to risk peterson would be dumb. He will play some but I highly doubt he will be a feature back.
The rest of the trades look good to me. Pull the trigger.........

In all honesty, you don't have the RB's to start dumping em.
Pull the trigger on the Anderson Trade, then try ot flip one of your Qb's for a mid level WR or RB with a High Ceiling (Ryan Grant, Greg Jennings come to mind)
My team, (I had to kick out two teams because they hadn't paid by week 8 so I redispursed the teams by holding a second "draft" I was next to last pick in each round of the now eight man league- rules were take a wr, give one up to the now ownerless team.)
QB-Hassleback (Rivers)
RB-Rudi Johnson, Willie Parker, Brian Westbrook, Ricky Williams, Jesse Chatman, Selvin Young, Marshawn Lynch.
WR-Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne, Calvin Johnson
TE-Dallas Clark
K- Nick Folk
D-Seahawks D- (Chargers D)
I picked up Parker, Andre Johnson (injured at draft) and Smith (Injured injured at draft) for Ryan Grant, kevin Cutris, and Lee Evans.
We start a QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, a Flex, a TE, K, and D.
Should I trade a WR and RB for a better QB- A team in my league is RB handicapped, and has Eli, Peyton and Derek Anderson.
Is it worth making the trade?

why would you drop curtis or evans for Steve Smith? Is it a legacy league? His production relies on testavede and his numbers have dropped dramatically. You could have traded curtis or evans easier.
and yes I would trade rudi or chatman for a QB. Perhaps throw in Anquan Boldin or Calvin Johnson to sweaten the deal. Anderson has a very easy schedule to close out. Hell even against one of the top defenses in Pittsburg he put up bg numbers.....

Pittsburgh's D is sorta over rated, at least recently. They've been playing like crap. That bodes well with my No. 1 QB though.

Remember, this was before Evans broke out, and Curtis is too much of a fluke performer.
Evans was a waiver wire pick up that week, and curtis the previous.
Figured with 3 rb starting, I can wait for johnson and smith to heal.
