Vancouver and BC are nice, and have lots of cabin, outdoorsy areas. Banff in Alberta might be nice for you, too. If you're looking at more eastern, Montreal is fun. Kind of a broad question..
Congrats on getting hitched!

Banff would be a good spot if you're just looking to chill & possibly log cabins. But if you prefer going East, Montreal is a mecca of activity & doubt you'd be doing any chilling in that region. It's more for a person that wants to constantly be on the go. Quebec might be a bit better, it's much calmer city than Montreal, but it is still a large city. But, if you're looking for log cabins & to chill outr east, I would suggest looking a little further east like the Gaspésie region or possibly the Maritimes as well.
I know we spend at least a week in Gaspé (My wife is from there) in the summer & it's a great place to relax, We usually rent a house along the St-Laurent river & if you're looking for things to do, well there is plenty of historical sites, nature trails & landmarks to visit if you wish to.
Banff
Lake in Banff National Park
Gaspésie
Rocher Percé

Cap des rosiers lighthouse (9 floors high)

Indian head Rock

City of Gaspé (The small brick building right across the river with the blue top is my wife's uncle's photo shop)

There's a tonne of amazing sights to see in the rockies in BC and Alberta. I was there a ways back and I was absolutely dumbfounded by all the sights. The maritimes are also unreal. Montreal is an amazing city to see, you could spend a good amount of time and have a lot of fun there, I know I did. My 2 week vacation in Montreal turned into a year and a half lol.

I'd say since your honeymoon is in May you could check out some Stanley Cup finals action....but if you're in Toronto, you'd be **** outta luck....heee hee.

what happened to the log cabin?
are you planning to fish? hike? water ski? just hangout with some beers? or not go outside of the bedroom?
As mentioned before, Jasper and Banff kick ass.
Whistler (as trendy and pricey as it is now) is still awesome.
If you want the ocean and quiet try the Sunshine coast or something close by in BC.
If you want the Ocean, a bit of quiet and some raucous, then go to st John's and tour Newfoundland.
If you want a lake, a cabin and some good hiking and such, check out algonquin park in Ontario.
If you want strippers, go to Montreal.

Just a thought, but how about Niagara Falls, it is considered the honeymoon capital. I don't know about cabins but plenty to see and do, you'll find a variety of ways to treat the Mrs. All the best, mydogcujo

algonquin park is pretty much the middle of nowhere.
it's about 3 hrs drive from Toronto (I don't know about Ottawa).
Bugs in may aren't out and it's still cold at night.
