The Florida Marlins? Quite the opposite...

I think this is just a ploy to give away tickets to the 'dancers' and their families so they can artificially boost their attendance numbers.

kiind of funny tho...

Society has been doing the "perfect" presentation with cheerleaders and other professional skinny people (just watch any beer commercial and guess which of the supermodels really drink the beer) for so long now.

I find it kind of funny that there's actually a market for this sort of reality entertainment. The article also said the Bulls have had a large male dance troupe in place since 2003. Just speaks to the fact of obesity becoming acceptable on a "wide-scale" (pun fully intended).

Why are they looking outside. All baseball has to do is look at first baseman and pitchers and they could find enough fat guys to fill up a whole bunch of dancing squads. Hey maybe if they did that the pitchers might get a little exercise. I bet most baseball pitchers couldn't run 100 yards without oxygen.

Haha, my (obese) friend was actually considering trying out for this. I told him he would just look like a fool and that people would be laughing at him not with him. It's actually kind of sad, it's like exploiting fat people so that an entire stadium of 15 people can laugh at them. Now I'm usually not PC and I'm not about to get all mad at this and start complaining but if I was fat there would be no way I would let myself be made fun of for the Marlins gain. There is only one reason anyone would care to see this and it basically boils down to, "Hey look it's fat guys trying to dance, haha, silly fat guys!"

Rumour has it that 2010 offseason has been the discussed day.

I also think it's in the contract that right after the 2010 season but before the 2011 season.
