iPod help(New Classic 80GB)

Hey guys,

I'm coming from a creative mp3 player, so i guess i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to iPods.

I connect my iPod to the computer, and it makes a noise as if it is recognizing it, and when i take it out. It says it is connected at first, then says when it is ok to disconnect while loading.

Itunes does not recognize it, or Windows Media Player. Therefore I am unable to download anything on to my iPod.

It is the new iPod classic 80GB i bought/exchanged my 30GB Zen vision: M for on saturday.

I downloaded iTunes again, i'm wondering if it is possibly a firewall or a certain program/ system requirement preventing me from being able for it to work?

Any help is apperciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

1) Is the USB port you are using USB 2.0? It will not work with USB 1, not even though a USB 1 hub.

2) Did you reset the iPod?

Are you running Windows Vista, or XP? I got a LG Chocolate mp3 phone, and Vista recognises that it is hooked up, but wouldn't open the software and says it's nowhere to be found.

50GB more storage and an easier interface? Nope, Pat made the right choice.

I'd make sure you have the updated iPod software. You could also just try switching it to another USB port, it's worked for me in the past when mine has gone wonky like that.

I actually just needed to unplug the printer/fax machine my dad has for work! It was sucking all the USB energy according to the apple guy who walked me through, who was very helpful.

And i was quite frankly done with creative, plus they didn't any there. 3 creative players in 18 months really really sucks. I got to exchange for a 80gig for no extra charge, so basically twice i've upgraded for no cost (2nd 8GB microphoto to creative zen vision:M 30GB to iPod Classic 80GB).

I had never used a iPod before so there was some confusion on how to do a few things(such as turning up the volume! geez!).
