Hello everyone,
My name is Graham, I am a phys ed. and guidance teacher near St Andrews in Scotland. Twin sons, 12 years, one plays hockey the other not.
Started skating at 40, outfield, then when the guys I played with needed a goalie, I volunteered. Started left catch, 'cause thats what we could find, but switched right after 6 months as I find using the stick in my left hand easier. Have progressed from bottom of the reccy pile to being headhunted last year to play in a top 3 team. Realistically thats as good as it is going to get for this 43 yr old.

Howdy folks,

Another "oldtimer"/ "late starter" here. Have loved watching hockey since knee high to a duck. Didn't learn to skate or play till I was in my 30's.
Started playing defence at first but then started filling in at the net durning pick up games.
Finally a goalie friend took some time to show me what I was doing wrong and helped me find all the gear I needed. Been playing just net for the pass six or seven years.

Kick myself often for not getting off my butt and playing sooner. But now that I am I'll be playing till the day I die or my body just can't take it anymore.

I also collect and deal some in "vintage" hockey gear so if/when yous clean out the garage and finally decide to toss out that stuff you used back in the old days gimme a shout, maybe we can work a deal

Wow, I was born and raised in Cut Bank, MT, but now I live in Colorado.

I've been playing net for about 8 years- 6 roller and the past 2 ice. I have to drive an hour + to play on any organized teams.

Hello, everyone I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. i'm chopperdog, and no I don't go by that in my personal life! anyways i've been an avid viewer of this BB for quite sometime, and I guess now is the time to take the plunge into the wild world of goaltenders, (the wife just does'nt understand) any how i'm honored to be part of this BB and I hope to talk to all of you soon! thanks.

Another late bloomer here (47 years old).

Just started playing in September. Got interested after my daughter (age 13) decided she wanted to play goal last year. Thanks to Ken Dedesko (BB member), I started lurking on the site and learned a ton about gear and the game. Bought my daughter's equipment based on learnings here and a lot of used stuff from members or eBay.

Found myself hooked and started getting gear for me. Signed up for a rec league and I am totally loving it. I now watch hockey so I can observe the goalies and learn from them.

Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

I live on the exact opposite side of the state but I too drive an hour in any direction to play.

do a search on Montrose here, and you'll see. Rangely, that is the middle of nowhere.

I'm Steve, I'm 15, and I've been playing goal for around 9 years. I live in Woodridge, IL, a suburb of Chicago by about 45 minutes-1 hour. I play on the Naperville North Varsity team this year, but might be trying out for the local Jr. B team next summer. Later!!
