Introduction
Hello to all,
My name is Alex and I live in Davis, California. Ive played roller hockey for close to 10 years. In those years I've played goalie several times and over the past year or so I have fully made the transition to playing only goalie. I feel Im slowly getting better but I still have alot to learn.

Intro.
Greetings All,
My name is Ian and I'm from Doylestown,PA. I first started in goal waaaayyyy back in '72 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I was the fattest kid so I guess the coach figured that I would stop more pucks. Turned out that I was puck shy..well given the fact that I was given an old back catcher's mask and chest protector to use could you blame me? Anyway, did that for two years, then a fatter kid came along and I was allowed to come out and play defense. Did that for a few more years until we could'nt afford the gear anymore so I stopped playing. 14 years later I started again while in Kodiak, Alaska (pond style) and finally got my chance to get back in net a few years ago. Now that I have REAL equipment I cannot get enough, I actually get withdrawl symptoms. Chances are that you'll be hearing from me alot, asking for advice.

Newest Newbie, for now
My name is Steven. I started playing goalie in Jan '05 at the age of 34. Why did I wait so long? Because that is when my son got new gear and I could finally fit into some of it. My son is in his 5th year playing in net. I had wanted to try it out since he started so I would have an idea of what he was experiencing. However, my wife wouldn't let me shell out the bucks for gear and I couldn't find anyone who would let me try theirs. So with his chest/arms, blocker, and catcher, I supplemented with Ebay and gave it a shot. The bug bit right away and over the next couple months I pieced together the rest of my gear. I played 3 seasons of I-league before jumping to the D-League this season.

New Guy from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Who am I?
Name is Stuart Musson and I am from Ottawa (Kanata) Ontario. I am still playing, 30+ years, one of the toughest positions in any sport, as everyone here knows
Consistently being one of the top goalies in the men’s leagues I play in and having played at a high caliber of hockey during my childhood (MTHL "AA" - Toronto Aeros - PeeWee/Bantam). I have been a student of the game for the past 10 years as I have taken up the very satisfying role of coaching young kids (here in Ottawa) in order to achieve the confidence and their potential in the nets.
During the past year and a half I have worked closely with one of the best goalie coaches in the city of Ottawa. This has been an incredible help to my overall game however I joined this BB to get a few more tips and techniques as it is always beneficial to learn from others. I hope to contribute to the discussions and help others that may be seeking advice.
Cheers,
Stuart Musson

Swish, I never noticed an introduction thread! Well I'm Josh, a goalie from the UK. 18 years of age and have been playing goal for little over a year, and I'm still not very good heh heh
Anyway, I'm usually looking out for new goalie gear, especially if you're doing a good offer in the UK.
Thanks for your time
Josh

My name’s Matt and I live in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in Minnesota where everyone skates but I was first bit by the goalie bug when I was twelve (in 1980). I was playing pick-up with some friends and got in goal for fun and did a kick and a glove save right away and was hooked from then on. The trouble was that since I was already 6’2” at age twelve I was forced to play basketball in school and never really got the chance to play organized hockey.
In my early 20s I made up for that and got on the club team at the University of Minnesota and played in Division 3. I was the back-up goalie by a long shot but I learned a lot about playing and played against some great players.
Now I’m an internal auditor and here’s a list of jobs I’ve had/things I’ve been paid to do:
• Brick layer
• Barista
• Archaeologist
• Fire fighter
• Security guard
• Bouncer
• Musician
• General contractor
• Legal clerk
• And I’ve been paid to play hockey (though not much)
I’ve learned a lot on this board and really enjoy (almost) everyone’s comments. It’s a great resource.

Hi everyone, I'm Sam., a southpaw.
I live in Ohio, but play hockey in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
I started playing roller hockey at age 13, ice hockey by 15. I'm 46 now.
I play rec. roller hockey at The Plex during the past few summers and ice at the Memorial Coliseum with the Ft. Wayne Firefighters Hockey Club and other groups that want me as a rent-a-goalie.
I was practice goalie with the Fort Wayne Scouts of the Continental Hockey League (1978). I played adult hockey in Findlay, Ohio in the late 80's.
While there, I played a period against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Team (I let in 3 goals).
As for my other life.. I'm married and my wife loves hockey as much as I do...sometimes more.
I've done color commentary and in-between period interviews on the radio with the legendary Bob Chase, the Voice of the Fort Wayne Komets, and now periodically run TV camera at the games for the local CBS affiliate, as well as other newsgathering duties.
I really enjoy reading the posts here and hope to utilize the knowledge therein before my old bones give out.

Hello out there, we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight!
Stompin' Tom rocks!
Well, my name is Josh, and I am 30 years old, and play both out and in. I would prefer to play goalie all the time, but I certainly still enjoy playing out. I have been a goaltender off and on, mostly off, for the last 20 years. I do enjoy robbing my fellow forwards of great goals by snagging the puck with my glove.
I'm married, two boys, and a third ? on the way, and I work at the local hospital in the morgue. Figure's huh? It's always been said that goalies aren't in their right mind, and I guess this kinds of proves it.
I love rock and roll, particularly Canadian rock, although my favorite all-time band is AC/DC.
My favorite player of all time? RON HEXTALL!!! My favorite team is the Philadelphia Flyers, because of Hexy, and my cousin, who played for them. You might have heard of him, Bill Barber?
Other than that, I am on this board to cruise the posts, pick up info that can help my tending career, and the main reason........GEAR WHORE!

Hi all
I am Mark Thompson. I'm 36 years old and have just decided to start playing in net. I played hockey as a boy in Connecticut but we moved to Virginia and thus ended my budding career. When I moved back up north I was able to pick the game up again as an adult. My one claim to fame is playing at Madison Square Garden in a charity event.
Hockey is alive and growing here in central Virginia. I'm now the plant manager at the ice rink and so I get to play 4-5 times a week!
My favorite goalie would have to be Martin Brodeur. The man's a rock!
I am here mainly to pick up tips on the position and what gear people seem to favor.
Greetings to all!
Mark
