Hey
Hey just posting to introduce myself. Been a goalie for a while, i like hearing about and checking out new gear, and this seems like the perfect place to do it. I play NCAA hockey and get tons of reps in and outta here so I'm sure I'll have some good insight on lots of stuff too. Good to be part of this!

Hello
Just saying hello to the board. My real name is Stephen. Well, I started as a roller hockey goalie in So. California around 93-94. I try to play ice, but fees and rink times kept me on the roller rinks. Joined the US Coast Guard and finally made enough money to play ice. I'm now is Alaska were the hockey is great. I fianlly order my first set of pro gear (Smith's) after scarping along with used (Thanks to Play it Again Sports) and on sale goalie gear (Thanks to HockeyGeeks.com and HockeyGaint.com).
I have been looking at all the post and I think that it is so cool that people here are able to share there gear reviews and pics to each other. I wish this board was around when I started. There has been some gear that I have brought and have it only break in a couple months.
Well, I'm off to the Smith treads and hoping that USPS can get my gear here in once piece from NY to AK.
Thanks

Hi, My name is Jerry Klein. I'm age 57, married almost 30 years, no kids. Work with my wife in a consulting business she founded almost 25 years ago. I'm also a recovering attorney and a former broadcaster. Got introduced to hockey in 1970 when I was working for the radio station that broadcast the Philadelphia Flyers games. Got to meet some of them and started playing. Played forward or defense most of the time but got interested in goaltending, so I bought some equipment and played goal whenever I could. Went on hiatus in 1977 when I started law school. In 1989, my wife sent me to Flyers Fantasy Week as a birthday present, and I started playing again. Have been playing on a regular basis ever since, occasionally in goal. This past fall, I start playing as one of the two regular goaltenders for our local rink's Old Timers (35 and over) weekly open hockey (Dinkus Maximus, on this board, is the other one). I also play forward/defense on a mens league team at the same rink.
I really enjoy the game, especially goal. I had been a Flyers season ticket holder for 16 years before the lockout. But I didn't miss it that much when they weren't playing, and I decided I'd rather play more than watch, so I did not renew my seats.
Since I started playing goal regularly, I have upgraded my pads and my glove and blocker, which were somewhere between 10 and 15 years old. I now have Velocity 7000 pads and a Reebok Pro glove and blocker.
Found this board while researching new pads. Found it quite informative, and I'm happy to now be a member. I hope I can make some worthwhile contributions.
Thanks,
Jerry Klein

Newbie here
Hello all,
I am brand new to the board and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 32 and just started playing goalie last year and had never skated prior to that. I started in a novice league and got bit by the hockey bug! I played in a summer league and moved up to D3 rec league this spring. I am married with 3 kids and live in Vermont.

Hey everyone, I'm John, I'm a sales and marketing director for a small company in PA. I havn't been playing net for very long, but I know I will play until the day I die. I've played as high as B level tems and can hold my own, although i have some glaring weaknesses. I have been married for coming up on 3 years and I'm blessed by having the ultimate hockey wife. My wife not only watches hockey, but she plays, and well. She's been playing for 20 years and she is the best player on every mens team we are on, It's nice cause in warm up's I don't have to "let her score" cause she will score anyway . Being a newbie to the boards and overall goaltending I ask alot of questions, so thanks in advance to anyone who offers advise.

Welcome Jerry,
I grew up in Cherry Hill just accross the creek from Marlton, what station did you work with back in the 70's?? Just curious. My mom and sister currently live in Marlton, and I get back "home??" a couple times a year, maybe could join you and Dinkus for a pick-up game sometime, hahaha. Anyway, my sister is married to Jody McDonald, local sports broadcaster in Philly, Sports Talk 950, used to be with WFAN last 8 or nine years before that, and with WIP in Philly before that, ever heard of him?? Anyway, glad you're here, love seeing info from back home. Stuck here in the bayou state with a third world rink but have a blast just the same. Cheers
John

I´m Henrik. Turns 28 in october. Lives in Jönköping in the southern part of Sweden.
Have played a sport called Bandy ( it´s like fieldhockey at ice ) until i was 16. As a goalie of course.
I have also played soccer from age 4 to 16 and started again when i turned 25 and still goes on.
My life dream has always been to guard a hockey goal, but it was not an possibility when i was younger.
In february this year i got the oppurtunity to borrow a GK eq and try icehockey for the first time. It went well, and i bought my own eq. Itech 4,8 vamp pads, catcher and blocker. DR 5,2 GK pants, DR 8,2 C/A , Koho stick etc but i have now sold the itech "****" since it was not protective enough.
I only play once or twice every week with some former hockey players. It is quit good level on the game though.
My ambition is to start a new team in our town ( since our town desperatly need a lower level team... ).
I am also very interested in icehockey eq and use this board as my teacher
I run my own company , called henwal sports www.henwal.com and i´m focusing on soccer products but i am going to import ( hopefully ) passvilan gear real soon. I´m also going to pick up my old airbrush eq and start paint masks and helmets again. Have got so many good ideas from you guys at this board.
Thank you lord for this board

My name is Don. I recently turned 42 and I Just started to play about a month and a half ago. My son is 10 and has been a goalie for the last three seasons. This past season I was trying to explain something I saw him doing and he said,"If you think it's so easy, why don't you try it?". Late in his season the team had an 80 minute full sheet practice. Most of the dads on the team play as well so the coach decided to have a 40 minute practice and a 40 minute father-son scrimmage. I went out that night and bought some used equipment and had a ball. I have been going out every Friday night to rat, and I think I'm learning quick. My son has been out to watch two times and he says I'm getting better! I'm hoping to get my chops up enough to play in a league by next fall. The tips here have already helped a lot.
