Dont agree with Outkast though,

Kardinal is very good. Dangerous is nice, and fresh.

Out kast isn't for everyone, true, but you got to admit...Andre3000's got skills. He's the "Artist formerly known as Prince" of Hip Hop, kinda. Not to mention the fiiiiiiine ladies in their videos

Good call on 3rd Bass Rich. I forgot about them.

Don't know if you ever listened to them, but I liked 'The Goats' quite a bit back in the day too.

No Goats, No Glory was a great album.

I might have that one around somewhere. 3rd base did a show here some 15+ years ago. Had some words with Search...cool guy. Also chatted with Rakim and met Rob Base. Saw Maestro and PE in Ottawa too. Damn, the energy from that show was WICKED!

Maybe Top 5 All Time is lofty, but definitely one of the best from the last 10 years. He sharp lyrics and blatant disregard for his distractors is what makes him for me. He just spoke what he wanted, to hell with what anyone thought of it. And I don't think he ever rapped about rims and cars.

I might as well mention Mike Shinoda's Fort Minor album. One of the best rap CD's I can think of that has been out recently. It seems pretty polarizing, either people hate it or love it. I personally think it was an amazing CD.

I don't really feel Talib. I love him for being fine with not being huge, but I just never got into his music. Not really my style. Zion I is a more underground group I love though.

I wouldn't consider Fort Minor a rap album, but that's just me.

I haven't checked out who's who in the game lately so i'm not too familiar with the new cats that are coming out. Since The Source magazine has gone MIA and Rap City is nothing but the same ones again and again and again and...you get the picture.

I checked out Aesop on youtube. I forgot who he was until i saw him. Is he Canadian? I can't remember. There a YT clip of him and Rob Sonic. They're kinda like Beastie Boys, but modern

Wow... loving this thread. Reading all the groups that have been listed brings back some great memories.

I'm glad to see the Rascalz getting some love here. I was/am good friends with DJ Kemo and Red1. I saw, first hand, the work they put in to 'make it.'

Anyways, going through my CDs (and tapes!), here are some more take you back...

Big Daddy Kane
The D.O.C.
2 Live Crew
Ice T (his old stuff was way better)
Too $hort
Biz Markie
Slick Rick
Public Enemy
Kwame
NWA
Eazy E
Eric B & Rakim
Ultramagnectic MCs
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5

I have alot more... too bad some are on tapes. I have to go find the CDs for some of these.

Russ

I'm not so big on rap anymore, but there was a time when it was my music. Slick Rick was and still is amazing in my eyes. His ability to flow and be concise with his lyrics both verbally and poetically is unreal.

I love hip-hop and rap.

you guys should listen to JMT and army of the pharaos
MySpace.com - Army of the Pharaohs - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Rap / Hip Hop - www.myspace.com/armyofthepharaohs

I have every jedi mind trick album and they are great.
Army of The Pharaohs - The Torture Papers is a really great album

But im not into the oldschool hip-hop that much. It's more rap for me. I have alot of the music though ;D

Found this on army of the pharaos myspace page:
Sounds like: Wu-Tang Clan, Gang Starr, M.O.P.

No. We are having a discussion , without any stupid comments, then you come in trying to be funny. Go talk to your mother about it if you want.
