You know, I've been harassed by Thumper from the time I started on this bb. He goes out of his way to post comments in response to mine. And almost never do his post add to the quality of this board. Most of the time I ignore it or quip back, but when it has been brought up that what he says is offensive there has never been a moderator here that would support me. Frankly, Aric, I think that's a crap ass way to handle things. I've always thought you've done a good job in general and I enjoy reading what you post, but when you come out with something like this all I can do is shake my head.

I have no beef with Adavis and he was just defending his honour. I believe adavis to be quite respectable

Adavis. My apologies on the generalization of ALL mods.

unfortunately. modding isn't an easy job, And a few bad apples can give the impression that the whole tree is rotten even when it's roots are strong.

There is nothing wrong with offering someone the benefit of the doubt, Even when they can be complete morons (intentionally or intentionally).

however,

When is too much too much?

are personal attacks ever appropriate?

I apologize, it was outside of my character but I felt quite offended.

My issue was the generalization. Regardless of what anybody else sees we log a lot of hours. I'm not asking for a trophy or a batch of cookies but in case you didn't know I'm a really blunt guy behind closed doors, rude a lot of them. No biggie of course and more than one mod has asked me to piss off.

But when other people in this position talk I listen and as best I can tell the good ones, even the less vocal ones bust ass when I do as well. I made a thread about work a few months ago and several mods responded verbally, two responded with action and they were pissed. Over the last two months Digitalcrease and Ant have been the best mods on the bb and this is no slight on the rest of the current crew of expatriates rather a response to a challenge.

Suffice it to say the challenge was met after I threw down the gauntlet but I would prefer no accolades for the suggestion of challenge it was just a bitch fest I started.

I feel badly that more and more people find personal offense, I wish they'd pm me so I could help.

I personally see it as a personal attack on my good taste.
But then again i wouldn't expect otherwise from you.
I also don't expect Mods here would act on it because they rather don't get into a endless debate with you, simply because it is tiresome as hell, (see bipolar mod reference.) so they don't and you think you are justified.
That is the reason why i prefer the other board, it's smaller, it's run by one nut and it works fine.

There is a lot of info on this board but lately i don't bother, i can get mutual info on the other board but without the ego-tripping. we preserve the ego tripping for the specially made ego tripping threads, in which we can bash our internet ego's real hard against each other, actually the bashing is so wrongly erotic we should put a stop to it.
actually in reality it's a self controlling little BB, rather then mocking it you could learn some things from it but then again you already played out all your cards, here as well as over there, off course you needed that mod position over here otherwise you are back with the rest and without any cards the game is played pretty quick.
