Ryeno sucks.

He brings it rather crude but most of the time he has a point, that's why he sucks. he has a point.

Not true -- you just have to be a U.S. citizen at birth, as opposed to a naturalized citizen later in life. You don't have to be born within the borders of the U.S.A. in order to be born a U.S. citizen.

Quote:
U.S. Constitution - Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.
John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, but he is eligible to be President because he was born to U.S. citizens, and therefore was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth -- a natural born citizen -- regardless of the location of that birth. "The Arnold" was born a citizen of Austria, and became a naturalized citizen later in life, and therefore is ineligible to run for the office of POTUS. Had Schwarzenegger's parents been U.S. citizens living in Austria at the time of his birth, then he would be eligible for the presidency.

A question that has arisen often over the years is this:

"Why do some people get different treatment than others?"

They do. No question. But it's the same thing at school, at work, within a family, or in a relationship.

Generally, behaviour brings privilege. The better your behaviour, the more striking it is when there is a sudden change, or an outburst, or anything that would be typified as out of character.

We all build our own histories. There are certain members who have engaged in poor behaviour repeatedly, where there is a pattern of behaviour and a history of repetition, and they get banned. Permanently.

There are others who have a day that is out of character for them, come on this BB, and act inappropriately. Because the Internet lacks context, we PM them and find out what is going on in real life that is affecting their behaviour here. Those folks get a little slack, because it can be rightly assumed that the behaviour will not be repeated. A day, a week, a month, and they're back, as the person they were and will continue to be, a positive member of this BB.

There are those that fight amongst themselves, those with dislikes or vendettas.
That's normal, if not acceptable. We try and get them to take it elsewhere, through PM's. We KNOW who doesn't like whom, but it's sometimes a blurry picture as to who struck the first match.

If adavis, Mont, Sloth, Swiss, Cuban, GAW, or someone of such esteem were to go off the rails, yeah, we'd treat the case somewhat differently, because their contributions to the board over the last near-decade suggest behaviour that is almost uniformly excellent. They'd get some leniency, and a chance to explain. When Sprawl and Thumper, or Swedish and RyJ, go at it on an inappropriate level, we just look at the fact that this is a recurrent pattern that needs to disappear. They do NOT get any slack, because frankly, the arguments they get into are not a positive addition to the board. They becaone highly personalized, and detrimental to the discussion of the topic at hand. They get deleted and asked to take a break.

At work, in life, in relationships, in school, and yeah----in hockey, your reputation is based on your conduct and performance. This place is no different. Treat people with courtesy and respect, follow the rules, and govern yourself appropriately, and you WILL be afforded higher stature. That's REALITY. Act like a jerk, feed the fire of personal attacks or inappropriate conduct, and yes, you're going to be scrutinized more closely and judged more harshly. Again, that's LIFE.

Want more respect? Be more respectful.

Ehem...
Kevin can I ask when have I gone "off the rails" I posted a thread about elite once in response to his vapid, offensive and frankly moronic statements expressing his own pent up frustrations and ignorance with regard to religion.

I approached mods about this but didnt even get a REPLY to my question. Elite has paraded his ignorant rants under the aegis of "debate" too many times and seeing as his PERSONAL attack on me was not moderated I took issue. Apart from a few slips on the old cus filter, in my early days, I have been a fairly dull member of this board.

IF you wish to talk about going off the rails, then I do not need to remind you of your comments on Scott? Do I?

Lars,

My humble apologies. It was Swedish Goalie and RyJ's frequent arguments I was thinking of, and somehow I conjured your name by mistake.
Please forgive me.

Kev

As far as anything I may have said about Scott,...guilty. I called him a thief, which was inappropriate and untrue. I respect Scott's talents and craftmanship. I wish he had done some things differently, but I'm sure he could say the same of me. That doesn't excuse my behaviour. I'd ban myself for three days if I wasn't so damned busy.

There have been mods in the past that I had no respect for the way they handled their duties and I was very public and vocal about it.

And I guess, yes it is a matter of upping the ante. Because a child goes around saying 'I don't like someone' but refuses to stand up and say it. It's being passive aggressive and quite frankly I have no stomach for it.

I have actually found out who it is that Bryan dislikes as that person has told me.
At the time of the incident, I strongly considered making it public, and outing this mod. It would be impossible for him to defend himself, as I still have all of the PMs he sent me.

But what good would come of it, and why is it anyone else's concern? If other people like him, and want him to continue, that's their choice. I decided to vote accordingly and leave it at that, rather than start a thread that would degenerate into a big fight, end up with people getting banned, and then just get deleted anyway. All for something that's not anyone else's concern.

My only point in the initial reply to your post was to point out that just because you think everyone is doing a good job, doesn't mean everyone else does. That's all.
