GSBB Moderator Elections 2008

Hello everyone,

Every year for the past three years we have held moderator elections in June and so it's time once again for the membership to choose the fourth GSBB Moderator team. Over the past year I think we've had an excellent team and would be please to see them all stay on for another term.

Some have chosen already to run again for another year but I'm sure a few others will choose not to. Regardless, I'd like to thank all of the following members for the time they've put into managing this forum:

Some of the members in the list above only served partial terms. I point this out not to diminish the importance of their contribution, but to note that being a moderator comes with a certain degree of pressure and time commitments that nearly all of those who stepped down felt. This is something for every candidate to consider before putting their name forward. I'm sure all of the current mods will say that at times the job sucks, simply because, at times, it really does

The election process will have two phases. In the first, any member that has been here for at least one year will be eligible to volunteer. [edit: as with all previous elections, members cannot represent an equipment business, hockey school or other goaltending related business ] To put your name into the election, click the link below

Click Here to nominate yourself to become a GSBB Moderator

and follow the instructions on that screen.

Starting June 23, the nomination stage ends and voting begins and runs until the end of the month.

Each member that has been registered for at least one year will be given one vote for each of the 4 categories (Super Moderator, Equipment , Doctor on Ice and Hot Stove). Moderators with the most votes inside their selected forum of interrest will be welcomed to the new team for 2008/2009.

After that, I verify the results, contact the winners and then make announcements.

So that's it, if you'd like to be a part of the team, please volunteer. For everyone else ; PLEASE VOTE!

I will take a Run at the Equipment mod job again.... It's pretty much all I deal with, I know gear, all brands besides the newer just started up ones... I have used and modded most brands so I can see most peoples views and try to help with questions they might have as well as keeping the peace in there.

I put myself in as a Supermod. Let's be honest: not everyone likes me. And I don't like everyone. But I think I've been one of the more active behind-the-scenes people with helping, reporting inflammatory posts, and, contrary to popular belief, I can be extremely objective and interpret the rules as appropriate.

I have a novel idea.

The last 6 months or so, there have been to my knowledge ZERO problems with the moderators or their actions. Things have been run VERY smoothly, and transparently with maybe a couple little bumps in the road, but nothing major, nor any blow outs.

Maybe that is a collective maturing of the community, or the fact that the crap disturbers might have left.

Either way, there are about 5 or so active mods on this board, day to day, whom I will list below:

Fram
Adavis
Cuban
GoalieAtWork
Kevinsane

These guys have been money. They handle the bulk, if not all of the moderating duties as far as I can tell. And they have done so admirably.

Can we just keep the existing mods(provided they want to stay) and not have another popularity contest where we might lose one of these mods or more?

I think it is the best solution.
