Internet Explorer problem
Hey guys. The internet explorer on my computer just stopped working for no reason. I've tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it and it just won't work. Whenever I try to use it for any website I type in, it always says "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage" I'm currently using Firefox and really don't like it. I've tried almost every browser out there but I'm just to used to IE. Any ideas guys? Sorry if I didn't explain clearly just ask for more info because I really suck at explaining things.

Have you tried clearing all the cache/history/cookies and such? Sometimes that throws IE into a fit.
Firefox will take some getting used to at first but it is a much superior browser than IE. Or you could go with LYNX if you're internet hardcore.

First of all, spend a day with Firefox. You'll never go back. Trust me. I was hesitant, too, but once you get used to it, it's so much more intuitive to use. Not to mention faster and more secure. And a new version is coming out next week that's, believe it or not, even better.
Second, it's probably your proxy settings. You're probably using wireless or hardwired to a router, right? Go into Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, and generally all you'll have to do is check the "Automatically detect settings" box.
Try that out. Tomorrow night.

I've been using firefox for a few weeks now and I'm just to used to IE. I've been using IE as long as I can remember. The automatically detect settings is already checked and it still won't work. Yes I've tried clearing everything and it still won't work. Thanks for the suggestions. Anything else?

I say you do what I did (or was forced to do).
Let, (I say this with with no control) your wife, spill a "Fosters Oil Can" on your old Laptop, and, go out and buy a new laptop.
(Note: this next statement should be read in fineprint).
Results May Vary.

Ok... uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" box for this test.
Right under that checkbox you should see another box that says "Proxy server." Check the box that starts "Use a proxy server..." If the next two boxes are still blank after checking this, try putting in 80 in the port box. Leave the address box blank, and don't go into the advanced settings.
Let me know if that works.

Since he's 13, I'm thinking his "wife" might be upset with him if he did that, or was caught drinking a beer.

I believer there was a Windows System Update released in the last week that has crashed IE. I saw it 2x at work this week with people who did their Winblows Updates.
Maybe uninstall any update prior to when the problem arose, or get into the System Restore options(use the help it will tell you how to do it) and restore back to a point before the problem occurred.

Hey now I'm 14! Beer tastes gross but Vodka is really good. So is Wisky. Some tequila every now and then to. I drink every weekend.
Scared you didn't I. I don't drink. 80 was already in the box and it didn't do anything. It stopped working about 2 months ago and my parents don't want me messing around with the computer even though I know more about the computer then they'll ever know.......but let em feel young for a while. Thanks for the help guys anything else or am I screwed?

Zay, you're only fourteen?
"I'm just to used to IE. I've been using IE as long as I can remember" are the kind of words I expect from old goats my age, not from someone young enough to be my second kid. Get with the program and learn the technology. There's kids in China and India who want your job, and with your attitude, they'll get it.
Browsers. Let's see if I can list all the ones I've used. Spyglass; Netscape Navigator starting with version 2; Internet Exploder starting with version 1; Lynx; iCab; the Apple OpenDoc one whose name I can't remember; Opera; Safari; and FireFox. I may have missed one or two.
Let me guess... you've also only used one or two versions of Windows? Here's a hint: Windows is on the way out; by the time you graduate high school, you will need to know a different OS. I recommend Linux: It's free and runs on almost anything.
So. If your IE is exploded, what browser are you using to access this web site?

Well I've been using computers since I was about 6 or 7 so yea. I'm using firefox right now and it's alright but I'm more used to IE. I guess I'll just have to get used to firefox. Actually I've used Windows 95,98,2000,XP and Vista. (And some other business version of windows net or something I don't know) I've never even heard of Linux......what is that?

You are all speaking "GREEK" to me.
As far as computer speak goes.
But he said "Whisky" (Canadian Blended), and that I can understand!
I'm sorry is this a goalie forum?

I'm same way with IE.
It has been acting weird last few days.
Isaiah, don't make me come up there to kick your butt if you start drinking.
And it's spelt whiskey.
