Ice time in Toronto

I'm still new to goaltending on ice and been wanting to get out there to practice some movements. I'm looking to get out on the ice, not neccesarily to play, but just practice bfly, slides, skating, etc. I looked at some of the rinks and see that all the shinny times or drop-ins are during the middle of the day, usually ending by 2pm or earlier. How does anyone even have time to play in the middle of the day? Don't they have to work....? Unless you're a student of course.

Does anyone know of a place that offers free icetime to either do shinny or practice skating/movement after 4 or 5pm? The last few times I've played shinny on ice has gotten better but I'm still finding moving around awkward and would like to work on my skills in a non-game environment.

I believe Scarborough Ice Sports has midnight shinny...

The thing with shinny is that it is always during off-peak hours b/c the rinks are fully booked during prime time.

Good look.

Midnight shinny...I work a 9-5 and have to take the bus (can drive for hockey though), I'd be a zombie during work.

chesswood has "skills sessions" on friday nights (8:30 pm i think). you could probably skate around then. they run some drills for players - skating, passing, shooting.... for the shooting drills, i'm sure they'd appreciate you popping in net, but other than that i think you'd be ok to do what you want. plus, if they already have two goalies for the night you'd be completely free....

i'm hoping to try out some new equipment this friday and i don't really want to do it in a game situation either, so i might see you there...

I was planning on showing up as a skater for the skills this Friday. I'll be sure to purposely aim for your new pads so you can get a lot of puck marks.

I was thinking of coming down for the skills session. Never been so not sure what it's like. I just know I'm still awkward on skates and would like to get better faster before i'm in game-situations and putting the team at risk.

I also learned that on Fridayd between 4:30-6:30 there's shinny at Seneca (404/Finch) which might give me time to do some practice skating. Might have to do that instead, if a fellow-goalie is coming to that would be fun and you cna probably teach me a thing or two.

you'll have to make it a point to actually aim for the pads - i have a hard time trying to get my equipment in front of shots!
