Racism in Dallas

Racist pig. How did he think this could be interpreted any other way?

SciGuy: Is "black hole" a racially insensitive term?

I don't see races, I see people who demand rights based only on their skin color.

So how can people argue with me when I say that the fight for racial equality has gotten a little out of hand?

Yeah,
What I don't get is that they are allowed to call us "cracka" and we aren't allowed to call them "nigga" or "******" when they call each other that. Soon we won't be allowed to call them "african american" "colored people".

This is just becoming way too much.

Why can't they just get off their little horse and be called American? I can't even remember the last time I called a black person 'African-American'. You find me a black person that can trace his roots, by name, to Africa on the spot, and I'll call him an African-American. Until then, he's an American-American, just like me.

I have a "highly pigmented" friend who is sick and tired of having to check off "African-American" on forms and such -- her family's ancestors are Caribbean, not African! Even if "once upon a time" her ancestors came to the Caribbean islands from Africa, her family doesn't "relate" to African culture, but rather to Caribbean culture.

Why do we call people in Haiti "Haitians" instead of "African-Haitians"? Why aren't citizens of Grenada called "African-Grenadians"? What is the "acceptable" term in Canada or Mexico for "highly pigmented people"? Do they use the phrase "African-American" in the geographic (continent) sense, rather than the government (country) sense? Or do they just say "black"?

NAACP.

BTW, calling them "highly pigmented" isn't correct, either. We're all highly pigmented.. just of a different color. Only albinos would be pigment deficient, but I don't think they'd like that term.

Why would you WANT to call them that name? It's a derogatory term, and it has no place in common usage.

If a few street thug wanna-be's use that term towards each other, so be it. That's their prerogative to do so. It doesn't make it right for them to use the term, and it doesn't make it right for them to kick your ass if you use the term. I guarantee you don't hear any black engineers, scientists, or congressmen using that term towards each other.

If a word is generally known to offend a group of people, using it towards them is just wrong. The fact that the lower class people have adopted that term as a term to use towards each other is sad, but a reality. Some people are just looking for an excuse to start fights and trouble.
