Madden 09 (League feature?)
Hey all,
just curious if somebody knows anything about the new league feature in Madden 09. I have stayed away from the franchise since about 2006, because they have just been rubber stamping new rosters and expecting us to pay 60 dollars a pop for it, but the league feature could be great...

my questions are:
A) Can you do a "fantasy" draft?
B) How does that work (I don't want to have to draft 2nd string offensive tackles or 3rd back up tight ends that double on kick coverage)
I've searched the interweb but it appears that EA did not make this game available for "reviews" which scares me a little bit ....
Thanks for any info...

Stryker from what I understand you start out with a complete team like the Eagles. You have the ability to trade players, pick up free agents, cut players, ect to make you a better team. You play against other opponents and I believe have scheduled games each week.
Sounds like a cool concept except that I can not see people making all of the games and that woudl cause a domino effect unless there is a forfeit time out or soemthing. Like if you are not there then you lose.

From the way it reads it sounds like you can also limit the number of people/teams in the league, my thought was to get 8-10 buddies and play once a week every week *unless we need a special schedule for something..... a game only lasts an hr give or take....

Does anybody knows how to call for a fair catch (on a punt) on Madden 09 for XBox 360?

Great question Chakal. I too needed to know the answer to that when I fumbled every punt return against my friend. Very annoying. He would wait until I caught the ball, then the "Hit Stick" the crap out of me.

Imagine that, lol...
I guess the only solution is politely say to the person you are playing against, "Fair Catch" and run out of bounds abeam from where you caught the punt.

I always play against the computer, I never play against somebody else or online so I'm doomed.
That's what I've finally found:
Have you tried tapping the "switch player" button first to make sure you've highlighted the return man, then tapping "Y"? The game automatically switches to the return man after he catches the ball, but before that it will be locked onto the last defensive player being controlled. To call a fair catch the return man must be highlighted.

Good find Chakal
I coulda sworn I always hit the "switch player" button before a punt and kick off return, but maybe I'm wrong...I'll give it a shot.

Some people says that you can't wait until the last minute to hit Y. They say you need to make your decision pretty fast after the punt. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but let me know.

I dont own the game, but I go by my friends every so often to play, so next time I play, I'll give it a shot and let you know...
That sounds rediculous though. How are you supposed to know if you want to make a run for it or call a fair catch that soon. You should be able to call it as fast as you can wave your arm and then get it in position to make the catch. The kicking team is supposed to give a 3 yard cushion.
