Hey ner....uhh...I mean, Hey Tech People, HELP ME PLEASE!

ALright so Im trying to figure out this problem thats been boggling me for a while.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for email and since I first installed it, Ive never been able to SEND email, it always tells me it cant connect to the SMTP server. So naturally I assumed that if I couldnt figure it out it simply could not be figured out by mere humans.

Then I got an ipod touch, and when I set up my email using the client on the touch, I put in the exact same SMTP issues and low and behold, it sent email no problem.

I used the exact same server, same username, everything. The only difference I can think of is that the Ipod asked me for a password for my SMTP settings, whereas Thunderbird has no field for this.

Any ideas folks?

Just need to a get an Infinite Probability Network Card.

Real answer though, your ISP is likely not letting you contact your outgoing mail server. I had the problem while living in Lubbock using SuddenLink. Same for a friend of mine. It seems that some ISPs just won't let you contact third party outgoing mail servers properly.

Check with your ISP, the might have a way around it.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Question tho, if the problem was my ISP, wouldnt that mean Id have the same problem with my Ipod, since its connected to the same wireless network as my laptop?

Thanks for looking!

Googling was the first thing I did though and after trying all that, nothing worked.

I'm not wondering if I can use Apple Mail on my Windows system. Since Apple Mail is more or less what runs on the Ipod software, maybe it'll work.
