Shipping Big Stuff (Bass Amp)?

What's the best (read: cheapest) way to get a bass amp (weighs about 140 pounds and measures L: 30" W: 15" H: 22") 800 miles?

I can't figure out how to do it in a way that's more economical than just buying a new one out here (trying to get it from the San Francisco bay area out to Utah). Suggestions?

I ran a quick quote on UPS.com and sending it via UPS Ground will set you back about $111.80.

try fed-ex freight - i shipped an automatic transmission on a pallet from az to ok for 90 bucks. its cheaper if you have a business address to and from. you can get around that by using a shopping center around the block from your home and have the driver call when he's close

Do either of those do pickup at your house? Would the amp need to be packed in something (it's pretty much invincible as far as I'm concerned) I'm like totally clueless on this.

Also, uship.com is kind of cool. So far the bids I've got aren't great though.
