Cops in the US are horrible. They'll accuse you for anything, especially if you are famous.
It's insane how much they are out to get you, when they should really just be there to help you.

As a former L.E person and husband of a current Detective your broad sweeping generalizations of the profession couldn't be farther from the truth. Could you please give me specifics on how "they" are out to get you and "accuse" you for anything. I hope your experiences relate to the fog light somehow

For instance, the RNC has only focused on McCain's military history and drawing a parallel between McCain and Regan thus far. Nothing on plans for the economy, war, etc. Essentially the only reason they've given for voting for him, thus far, is "he's a good guy with great character".
You know why? Because voters don't care about plans, economy and war. Your % of people who's going to vote is scary low in USA. Who's voting then? Radicals and militants. Usually, on who's side they're on and what are they looking for? So campains are shallow since the people who really votes are weather already on your side, or already on the other side. So, all you can do, is to ruin the other candidate's reputation to the eyes of the people already on his side. So, it seems that only non-voters care about plans, economy and war.

Here in Canada, if it gets under 65-70% of participation, it's outrageous!!! You only got 36% of the people who are of legal age to vote that goes to the voting booth...

While I agree it's low it's not that low. 50-55% of those old enough to vote and 52-60% of those registered in the last 10 years. I'll also disagree with your radicals and militants speculation. I think the vast majority of the voters are moderate who lean slightly one way or the other due to specific issues that a party identifies itself with. Based off of what you see in the media you'd believe it's all militants and radicals but that's more about ratings and the drama of who's yelling the loudest.

Further from the truth, huh?

The US system sucks, do you know how many people are sitting in jail now that are innocent? The problem is the cops won't listen to them, they are so damn closed minded. At least most of them.

That's funny, because I've never had a problem with a cop; especially the cops in Fort Collins. I was at many parties that they broke up; instead of giving everyone an MIP, or arresting people, they just cleared out the house, and made sure everyone left the vicinity safely.

In fact, it seems that the only people that have a problem with police officers are the people that are consistently getting in trouble for - gasp - doing something illegal!

No, I don't know how many are locked up due to the Cops being closed minded, show me where you got your information on this. I would really be interested in reading this.

That was the highlight of this thread!

Chakal comes in a close second.

I'll start paying attention to the U.S. election when they start talking about some real issues. (The candidates and the media)
