From the mouths of Children (or preteens)

Everybody has seen those chain emails where kids say the crazy or incredibly profound things, I always take those with a grain of salt... Sure they are cute, and sure they are insightful, but were they REALLY done by children?

My Girlfriend teaches 7th grade, for the first day of school she had a writing exercise for them, she wraped up an old shoe box and asked the class to write about the "best present they have ever received"

Here are a few of the responses....

"I do not believe any material gift is important. The only real gift anyone can give is knowledge. Thus, the best gift knowledge has given me is the gift of language...."

"The best gift I have ever received is a gift that a lot of people don't usually get. Knowing that you're loved is the greatest treasure of all time, but knowing someone loves you so much that they have to give you up is even better..."

"My childhood would definitely be the best gift that I could ever receive. My memories of my childhood are greatly cherished and close to my heart because someday I know I will miss how creative and curious I was..."

Those are cool. How many kids wrote something like "My xBox 360"?

Shows us how much we underestimate our kids intelligence. My youngest, 11, is a true smartie pants. She figures things out for my 2 older ones. She's come up with a few comments of such that just awed me.
