MIND THE NET offers their services to small towns throughout Saskatchewan who may not have access to high-level goaltenders / goaltending instruction.
While a Goaltender’s motivation to improve must come from within, he or she must be able to turn to somebody for advice. This person is often a parent or a coach. Since they should retain the information easier and be in a position to reinforce these skills during the season, parents and coaches are encouraged to participate, along with their goaltender, in any classroom and on-ice session.
One of the main goals of Mind the Net Goaltending is to improve goaltending in rural Saskatchewan. Attending specialized camps brings to the goaltender new and different techniques required for his/her position.
Confidence, work ethic, passion, hockey knowledge and mental toughness are just some of the attributes needed to play this demanding position. MTN will expose goaltenders, parents and coaches to modern teaching techniques so that these techniques may be reinforced throughout the season. Sessions will cover a wide variety of topics from buying, maintaining and proper usage of equipment, goaltender vocabulary, and general principles to coaching the most misunderstood position in hockey. We want to help young goaltenders; their parents and coaches gain a better understanding of the position. Parent and coach participation on and off the ice is always welcome and recommended.
