What's New at MTN Goaltending?

Mind The Net Goaltending has now been in operation for four years. During the past few years we have seen our students make the jump into elite hockey with several alumni earning great accomplishments in the SMAAAHL, PJHL, SJHL, MJHL, SIJHL and CIS leagues.

This upcoming fall we will have our first student to play NCAA Division I and may have representation in the WHL very soon, as well. These are exciting times at MTN for a number of reasons:

1. We have made improvements to our registration process with the various services we have to offer. We are continuig to make ourselves as approachable as possible by phone or e-mail or through our travels throughout Saskatchewan.

2. Our website has been improved as well. We still have our library of articles, which will remain free, that is being added to once a month. Bi-monthly newsletters are still available by e-mail. We have upgraded our links page with a number of highly recommended resources from the Human Kinetics website that are hockey and sport psychology based Mind the Net.

3. As part of our web services we have made available a FREE GOALTENDER SPECIFIC TRAINING PROGRAM made specifically by the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Saskatchewan. This program can be viewed at our website and will soon be available in printable pdf format. Check out Mind the Net . Let us know what you think.

4. MTN apparel is now in stock and will also be available off of the MTN website. Prices and pictures will be posted soon. Available apparel includes:
- Hats
- T-shirts with "MTN Goaltending" on the front and "The Four P's of Practice" on the back.
-Long sleeve hockey underwear with MTN Goaltending on the front and the "Four P's" on the back, as well
-Golf shirts
-MTN track suits.

5. We have hired Top Prospects student Graeme Harrington as an instructor for the summer, except for the first Top Prsopects camp which he will be attending. Other Top Prospects students will be guest instructors, TBA.

6. We have sold out our elite level camps and look forward to the challenge of working with the top young goaltending talent from Saskatchewan.

7. Continued affiliation with the Beardy's Midget "AAA" Blackhawks.

8. Strong response from this sub-forum has also been very encouraging which translates into the continuation of the sub-forum.

As you can see, things are looking up for MTN Goaltending. Keep your eyes open for updates to services on our website and on this forum for upcoming Adult Clinics (sometime in August) and semi-private instruction opportunities. Any time something new or exciting is happening with MTN we will post in this thread.

Website updates

We just want to quickly tell everyone about some of the updates that have been made to the MTN website and annual Goaltending Manual.

1) The FREE goalie specific workout program is now available in printable pdf on our website. The pdf's are available month by month for easier access to the information you are looking for.

2) The updated "MTN Goaltender Evaluation" that has been posted in this sub-forum is now available in printable pdf format on our website as well. If there is anyone who uses this evaluation either for self-evaluation or for evaluating other goalies let us know what you think.

3) Our annual MTN Goaltending Guide has been updated with 8 new articles bringing the guide to 215 pages. We are never short on articles to write so look for the guide to be even bigger next year. The MTN Goaltending Guide is given to all goaltenders that attend the Midget "AAA" Prep and Top Prospects camps.

Things are continuing to improve around MTN, for just being in our fourth year of operation we are seeing growth and potential in many areas. The first camp starts on the 18th of July and we are pumped.

A couple of thread mergers.

We were doing some reorganizing of some threads and want to let people know that the "Vision Training" Article is now found in The Importance of Visual Habits for On-ice Warmups . Also, the "Being a Backup Goaltender" that was removed a while ago has been merged into You're the Man Embracing No. 1 Status . Hope this is not an inconvenience for anyone.

Just a quick update:

We are slowly getting our pics from the summer camps and customer comments from the different camps ready for our website. Unfortunately, there are only a couple of our goalies that are active, registered members of this board which we are hoping to change through our next e-mail newsletter. Once the website is updated we will be posting pics and links to comments as well as info for next summer's camps for which ice is booked already, just some things to finalize in the next couple of weeks.

Also, we have a number of students who are attending WHL, SJHL, SMAAAHL, and PJHL(plus one NCAA Div. 1 goalie) camps at this time so our alumni page will be updated once everyone is settled with their new teams.

And finally, we will be attending the Beardy's Blackhawks Midget "AAA" training camp this weekend as evaluators for the goalies; for the third year in a row. Each goalie receives a full MTN evaluation, of their performance, and some time to discuss the evaluations at the end of the camp.

Patience will be the key for further updates but rest assured that we will post here ASAP. Thanks.
