topic I'd like to cover as it's been beating me a lot lately.
players in the slot. Not screens necessarily, But defensive breakdowns that allow a player to receive a pass in the Slot area with time.
I've been getting lit up there in particular lately. Shot comes from the corner to one or two guys standing alone within the hashmarks. These plays almost always start from the sideboards or corners so i'm deeper in my net, and the pass gets through the D-men almost all the time right to the guys waiting in the zone. The passees themselves are far beyond my reach and the players are usually at least 5ft away so poke checking is not an option.
I currently try to centre myself and then telescope out as close to the shooter as possible. I'm GETTING square to the shooter, but they're still picking the corners almost every time.

I'd like to cover wraparounds/pass outs. I feel that a lot of goalies at our peon levels don't vigilantly follow the puck as it goes around their net, leading to goals where they're looking the other way like FOO'S!

Actually, out of the hundreds of thousands of goalies around the world, that never happens to any of them. It is only YOU who suffers from this humiliating flaw so no, we will not cover this topic, especially b/c you asked and you suck.

PS: We'll cover it.

I always get shafted with a high shot over my blocker-side shoulder. Seems I just can't close that gap at all - if a player can roof it, its a goal. People tell me not to worry, as it was a "nice goal", but I don't believe there is such a thing!

Hope I'm not burstin' your bubble, but, there are some really nice goals that are basically unstoppable.
I had one ripped - I mean RIPPED - one-time over my glove, off the cross bar and in today.
I just said to myself "damn, I gotta hire that guy to shoot in my clinics'. I feel no shame when those beat me, nor should you...

I think something like a redirection with a quick recovery to the opposite side for a quick shot would be highly beneficial to a lot of us here. Well at least for me it would be

one of the most annoying drills I remember doing.
guy from outside the hashmarks takes a shot with two wingers standing just outside the creases to tip / redirect any pucks.
All rebounds live. Play continues till puck is safely cleared, frozen or scored.

It would sure force you to work on a little rebound control and getting up using the proper leg or just a powerful slide to reach the puck in time. These are usually my favorite drills if i had to pick one. AS LONG as the guys don't take it to far and decide to pass it back and force 5 times before scoring...

Good to see my buddy Ian out to the sessions! Make him feel like one of the board members, i've tried to get him to sign up on here a few different times.
Have fun everyone, it's unfortunate i can't make it out to any of the camps due to prior commitments.
TPS_Mike should show you all up, as he had supposedly been asked out to the Barrie Colts rookie camp last summer, and Looking to play down in the states for NCAA!
Any word on regular summer sessions as of yet?

I was scored on with a screen thru a mid-zone/slot redirect tonight so trust me, you will face that situation, ad nauseum...
Patrick: I think we are all looking forward to TPS_Mike showing us what he's got.
I spent 10 hours today working on the Powerpoint Presentation and then the $#@#$ thing crashed and killed half of it... I am severely pissed at Corel right now... I think I will take it out on Sievie D. in 3-puck Sunday...

Oh I feel your pain brother !!! And of course they almost always ring off the post and then you get some ankle burner defenceman who says "ya gotta stop those".
Being still fairly new to the position, I sometimes get lost on the ice from coming out to cut off the angle on slappers along the boards just pass the blueline to the top of the faceoff circle. Either I give'em too much short side or far side. Are there reference points I can use?
