Just got my copy today. Did anyone who ordered it from Canada get slapped with an extra $5.00 by customs for "handling" fees? What did they do, move it from one bin into another and call it "handling"?

Anyways... Overall it is a well shot, high quality, modern video. You can tell it was shot in hidef then converted to standard NTSC afterwards. The whites are actually white-balanced properly, which brings out the vibrance of all the other colours. The transitions and overlays are nicely designed and add to the quality. The music isn't distracting and works well with the style of the video. 16:9 format is always visually more appealing as well.

The video has some good tips and what's nice is that there is a good explanation and reason given for each. I enjoy technical explanations of things.

I only wish it was a bit longer though. Maybe also a bit more information about glove positioning (why you like the palm down most of the time -- I know it's a highly debated topic, but since everything else was explained nicely, it was the only thing missing in the "setups" section. Only "active hands" is mentioned -- I always seem to get beat low when I have my hands like that).

The angle which the footage was shot is good -- slightly high up so you can see the crease, so you can get a sense of depth and a feel for positioning. However I think more shots from ice-level for puck-perspective would be a great addition for volume 2.

I would recommend it to anyone. I've already learned some things, making it worth every penny. I'm eagerly anticipating Volume 2, and another $5 customs "handling" fee.

Bryan

Thanks for the positive and constructive feedback

Hi everyone!

This is Jessica, Zach Sikich's wife. I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the positive feedback and also for taking the time to write up your reviews of the DVD. Zach spent weeks putting together the script and shot list for the DVD and even more time in the editing booth so that he could put together the most professional and informative goaltending DVD possible. His greatest passion is goaltending and helping others become the best goalie that they can be. It pleases me so much to see that all his hard work is appreciated.

I know he is anxious to start filming VOL. 2 and hopefully you will find it as beneficial as VOL 1.

Respectfully,

Jessica Sikich
just another "hockey wife" lol

local pick-up?

Any place in the Twin Cities where we can pick it up? Don't feel like paying $7 for shipping if I can avoid it.
