Coldaccord's new gloves!

Got a pair of VK7's. I wore jason (keeps33's) catch glove one night and had to have one. Got them made to match my custom 11" itech 11.8's. And boy did they come out perfect. I think they match beautifully, like the set was meant to be together.

wait time was the 4-6 weeks marc projected. he called me to make sure everything was the way I wanted, and sent out a second "customizer" thing to make sure they looked as I requested.

I used the blocker yesterday and today. I had to cut the lace for the cuff binding and use a skate lace (so I could wear it a lot looser), now it fits with the arm's of my c/a perfect. The finger protection was a bit in the way the first time I used it, but that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore (I played 10am-2:30pm yesterday and today, at a camp a few friends of mine put on). its very light, and everything feels great. blocker board might need something in the future (got a couple stingers, but it was from an NHL'er who actually broke the other goalies index finger with a shot during the skate).

haven't used the catcher yet, I will try it out tomorrow morning (keeps has been breaking it in for me). I'll post up my review of that after some use

My digital camera is being a b*tch so I only have a couple pics, but I will take a few more at some point and post em up.

sorry for the uncropped pic, my computer is being fixed courtesy of bestbuy right now and my roommate doesnt have photoshop

here it is with my pads to show how awesome they match

couple more pics of them, with the set.

the finger protection on the blocker is a bit in the way. I can't reach the trigger in my paddle. It's not a big deal, I just stopped using the trigger, but the mobility is a bit limited. I never had that problem with my koho 580 or 590 blockers.

the catch glove is a magnet. i love it. so light and mobile, great break, great pocket. I've gotten my share of stingers, but only when I don't catch it in the pocket. and even then they only last 15 seconds. and a lot of those were due to the 3 nhl guys and the few semi pro guys i've played with lately.

my only gripe is the finger protection on the back. It seems the strap should be over to the right more. It's too far left, and the flap arcs over the back of the glove, leaving a ton of room. the only time I really worry about it is swinging around to my left side to hug the post, as I get down and use my glove to block the hole behind my knee between the pad and the post. kinda hard to see it from the pics but its pretty pronounced

The back strap is made that way to allow the hand to move and close the glove easily. If you notice most pro's have there back strap very loose. This is done this way to mimick that effect.

I had some trouble with the finger protection on my VK5 (I felt like I really had to fight to keep a hold on my stick), but the problem has gone away with time.

Cold, fess up which NHL-er?
Sharp looking gloves... I see what you mean about the catcher back portions.

I understand what Marc is saying about making it loose but if the attachment point over lapped a bit you could have the protection. and just not snug up the velcro.. keep it loose.. i do that on my smith.

How did the other goalie get his finger broken? Was it his catch hand with the mitt not open?

Any mods to the catcher? Pro palm?

Congrats again on the new gloves.

Cheers
Jim

I understand the logic behind that, but mine has more room than both of jason (keeps33's) vk7's which is why I mentioned it.

the catcher is pro palm, but i believe they all are now
it also has a beefed up cuff, but i believe they all do since then.

the other goalie took a shot to the finger protection in his koho 580 and it broke his index finger. the guy who took the shot had a great shot. he was picked up by the Rangers.
