New Vortek Pads

I just received my new Vortek pads. One set of black VK 5's and a set of white/navy VK 7's. Both are 35+2's. I got them off of EBAY for $400. US for each. It sounded like a great deal and now that I have seen them it looks even better. I propped them under my furniture to give them some "shape" and unfortunately they keep moving the couch. So it was back to the old tie down straps to hold them in a flexed position. I get to try the 7's tomorrow, as soon as I can I would love to review them. I am presently using an old set of 9980's that were Huet's when he played in Los Angeles. The pads fit and finish is great, they look like they are very well made. After reading all the reviews and threads about the pads I felt comfortable ordering them without seeing them in person or trying them on. I am 6-2 with an ATK of 18. They seem like they will fit fine.......

I had my day all set up to bid on the white/navy ones as soon as I got home from work the last day of the auction, but I got tied up after work and didn't get home to the computer until 20 minutes after the auction ended.

I was even more disappointed after seeing the price you got them for. Good luck and enjoy them.

First Use of the New Vortek's

This was my first set of "brand new" pads. They gave me no problems at all. Due to age and old goaltending style muscle memory I am not a true butterfly style, kind of a hybrid i guess with a very narrow semi-butterfly. This also was my first 11" pad. They were fantastic. Movement was easy and they felt great on my legs. Not stiff at all. I wore the straps "snug", but not too tight and they rotated fine for my style. I think I will add either thigh pads or thigh boards, or both, just to be safe. They are ridiculously light as well. They area a 35+2, I am 6-2 and they seem to fit perfectly. They really are great looking pads. Rebounds were a little loud, but that should improve with wear. I will post some pics as soon as I can. Next are the VK-5's.

Sorry you missed out on the deal.. I could not believe I got them that cheap. Shipping was $110. US, seems a little high but over all I think it was a good deal.

I feel a little better about it now

So how did they ship them? Someone from the store drive them to your house and deliver them in person?

purolator courier, very expensive/ They each had their own seat on the airplane. I shipped some pads to Toronto last year USPS and it only cost me $25.

Vortek Pads

Actually when you think about it, for TWO sets of pads, its not that bad. It is a different country and on the opposite coast after all. Overall, a great deal and I would not hesitate to buy from The Goalie Crease again....
