Patents take about 5 years to get, and if the winning design had been posted on this website prior to the application, they could never get it.

Is there even any kind of legal protection they would have for the design (copyright/trademark)? I was kinda under the impression that there is really no feasible way to protect the art on the face of a pad. By the time you got through court costs it wouldn't even be worth defending.
