Vk5 glove feels... off
After hearing so much good stuff about vortek gloves, I finally got to try one on at the local shop a couple weeks ago.
From the second I put it on my hand, it felt wrong. Felt like my hand was being put into a position that it did not want to be in. I was disappointed that I would not be comfortable using the 'best glove on the market'
I know that this is obviously not the gloves fault, but I was wondering: Is there any way for me to wear the glove or something for me to learn to love it? I want a Vortek, but it doesn't feel right.
For comparison, I use an Itech 7.8 Vamp ('05) and love it, am meh with the RBK break, and absolutely despise the V3 break.

Did you have that little internal palm thing in there? I flip it out. I can imagine it makes a huge difference.

About 80% sure it was out. Next time I go I'll give it another chance.

Try adjusting the thumb loop strap. When I first had the glove, my thumb would hurt. I was used to a tight thumb loop with my old gloves, but with the VK5, I made it really loose and now the glove is fine.

A really good advice is to try it on ice. I have made the same misstake twice. Tried a glove on in the store that i really thought felt nice, but it was a disaster when using it on ice.
It was the V3 and SWD C10 snags and they felt supernice when i had it on my hand in the store, but when using them first time they was not for me at all.
Give the VK5 glove a try on ice.

I asked Marc about the internal flap thingy, as it felt uncomfortable at first, too. (I Started a thread about it I think) I have 2 VK5's now, and couldn't be happier.
(For the record, I hated my PS2. I have extreme (injury) issues in evaluating a glove though. If your own hand structure makes it feel wrong, it might be. But give it a chance... )

It's possible you are accustomed to a 60 degree break and it was a 90, or vice versa. Learning to love a different break can take a long time.

I don't understand why you would want to settle on a glove that doesn't feel right for you, simply because it's got a good reputation.
I'm not trying to knock Vortek, here. But, everyone likes a different feel; not every glove is for every person. Why would you want it just because of what people are saying, regardless of how it feels for you?

Yet another pointless, stupid, idiotic thread.
I don't care for sweet potatoes, but I don't post threads denouncing them because I don't like the taste.
As others have suggested, try the glove on the ice in an actual game, and post a proper review if you feel so inclined. To say "I didn't like how it felt" after trying it on once is juvenile and a waste of time.

I think stupid, pointless, and idiotic might be a bit overboard....sounds like he's genuinely asking for some help here. I could be wrong...but...
Yes, there's a way for you to learn to love the glove. Use it a few times. You'll either get used to the break and love it, or you'll not get used to it and you'll hate it.
I've tried the RBK gloves, hated them. Same with Velocity gloves, hated them too. Didn't much care for the 5500 that everyone seems to love. I've been wearing the Battram 5000 series gloves exclusively until I got my first set of VK7 gloves. I still like the 5000 gloves, but I LOVE the VK7 gloves. I have 2 pairs for now....soon to be 3 (although I'll probably sell the unmatched set soon!). If only they would do custom graphics, I might stop EVERY puck then!!
The only way to get used to a glove is to wear it. Once you're wearing one kind of glove, it's hard to get used to a different break and a different feel without just wearing them for a while. The Vortek gloves are definitely different in feel, so you'll just have to play with them a bit. It does help if you steam the gloves when they're new, to help break them in the way you want them.
