That title sounds like a news headline, right out of the local paper.

Nice color layout!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Well, I got the pads last night, and I just gotta say....

WOW! They look even better in person! Thanks Marc!

Ok, I'm a little concerned about the height (Marc recommended +2's). They feel awful weird for a guy who's always worn pads that were a little too short!

I'll get out on 'em ASAP - likely Sunday at the outdoor rink (if I can pull myself away from the NFL playoff games) - and let you guys know how it works out.

Pics and review to follow? We'll see...

I was in the same boat when my VK7's arrived. AFter you break in the boot they settle a bit, and when you get used to the added height and nothing gets through the five hole you'll be in love. Nice goaliecrap!

Update

Ok, so I didn't make it out this weekend My wife invited the outlaws over for supper and they showed up at 3:00!

Missed playing, and missed most of the Giants/Cowboys game

So, I was wearing the pads, skates and pants while watching the Indy/SD game, and trying to figure out the strapping. I couldn't get them to rotate properly (lots of under rotation). Spent most of my lunch hour today looking for photos of the strapping, without finding anything useful.

I put about 2 inches of knots on the toe ties, and that seems okay. My knees are really far forward when I go down (on the spot where they attach to the pad) and are not rotating enough. Hmmm... Is the knee lock too tight?

Does anyone have pics of their set up (with pads on of course). I just need to figure out which straps should be tight/loose, and how tight/loose to make them.

First thing to check since the pads are larger than you other ones is that they are not getting bound up in the pant.

Knee lock can be tight, you need to make sure that the other strapping is loose. Open leg channels need strapping loose. Bottom strap tighter and loosen as they go up.

But it really sounds like the knee cradle strapping is getting stuck with you pants. Plus real rotation will be much better on the ice.

Make sure the boot strap is through the center of your skate and loose, anywhere from the 6th through 9th hole.

Marc

I had the boot strap through back opening of the skate, and at the 5th hole from the end. I'll try it out again tonight.

Thanks Marc.

Yes just do Boot Stap loose and everything else loose and slowly tighten them up.

I havent even taken a KNee stack out and normally that is the first thing I do on pads but I wear them loose with the Lock tight and they are great..

Zero Rotation problems..

Some pics of the gear. I really like the Vortek in white on the side of the pads. Looks sharp!
