I have seen every goalie I have ever played against struggle with a thigh board at least once during the game (i.e. having to kick their leg to get it out from under their pants). Also, I have never got hurt w/ the thigh wraps I had, however, they were Itech pro-return pads, so maybe they were really beefed up thigh wraps.

I have often wondered why the thighboard system on velocity 1's never caught on...even vaughn stopped using it. I love it!
For those unfamiliar, the thighboard on V1's has no strap of it's own, but is attached to the top pad strap. This allows the user to set exactly how far back you want the board to go, which helps both in keeping the board from having any contact with the knee, but also keeps the board from getting caught in the pants.
The only downside is that if the board is too far forward it is basicaly a thighrise extension and a puck can find it's way behind it in weird situations.
Smith pad used to also have a thighboard restraint system though different from the velo 1.
However...the OP cannot use TB so in this thread it is moot. I just wanted to bring up the advantages of the V1 system.
